🌱 Wie geht es den Böden am TH-Campus? „Unter den Parkplätzen nicht gut“, vermutet Umweltschutzstudentin Mara Bergmans.
Deshalb nimmt sie Proben von versiegelten und unversiegelten Flächen, und prüft, wie gesund die Böden sind – zum Beispiel anhand des pH-Werts oder der Mikroorganismen im Erdreich. 🦠
💚 Ihre Arbeit macht Mara ehrenamtlich im Rahmen des Projekts „drüber und drunter“. Ziel des Projekts ist es, ein Bewusstsein für Biodiversität zu schaffen. Dafür hat die TH Bingen im Frühjahr 31 Biodiversitätsbotschafter*innen ausgebildet, die jetzt ihre eigenen Projekte in ganz Rheinland-Pfalz umsetzen.
Für ihre Untersuchung schickt Mara die Bodenproben ins Labor ein: Verglichen wird ein seit circa 40 Jahren versiegelter Parkplatz mit einer Rasenfläche. Welche Unterschiede gibt es? Die Ergebnisse lassen noch etwas auf sich warten. ⏳

🌱 How is the soil on the TH campus faring? "Not so good under the parking lots", suspects environmental science student Mara Bergmans.
That’s why she’s taking samples from both paved and unpaved areas to assess soil health — for example, by measuring the pH level or analyzing the microorganisms in the soil. 🦠
💚 Mara is doing this work on a volunteer basis as part of the “drüber und drunter” project. The goal of the project is to raise awareness of biodiversity. To this end, TH Bingen trained 31 biodiversity ambassadors this spring, who are now implementing their own projects throughout Rhineland-Palatinate.
Mara sends the soil samples to the lab for analysis: a parking lot that has been paved for about 40 years is being compared to a lawn. What are the differences? The results are still pending. ⏳
