Master Programme "Web Science" at TH Köln University of Applied Sciences Master Web Science TH Köln The Master programme is designed as a part-time programme for vocational studies.

It makes extensive use of modern e-learning approaches, such as online lectures and seminars as well as computer-mediated communication and collaboration. It leads to the academic degree "Master of Science" and is accredited by AQAS (http://www.aqas.de/). Graduates of this program will work in a range of companies, scientific or public institutions and manage projects that are concerned with the web.

Today we'd like to introduce you to Professor Stefan Karsch, who joined CUAS as full professor of informatics in 2001. He teaches in the areas of IT Security, Security Management, Operating Systems and Computer Architecture.

Professor Karsch studied informatics at RWTH Aachen where he also obtained his doctoral degree. Until 2001, he worked as an IT Security Consultant and Project Manager at debis IT Security Services (later merged with T-Systems). Customer projects dealt with risk analysis, technical/organizational security concepts and pe*******on testing of firewalls and applications.

Some of his research interests are
• Context sensitive Adaptive Security in volatile Web Environments
• Intrusion Detection in Mobile Ad-Hoc-Networks
• Perception of Risk and Security

When off duty, Prof. Karsch restores and drives vintage Volkswagen cars and listens to progressive rock music.
