Andris Plucis - Artistic director, ballet director and chief choreographer
Andris Plucis, born in Zurich in 1959, received his ballet training first at the Vienna State Opera Ballet School and later at the Royal Ballet School in London. From 1977 to 1985 Andris Plucis worked as a dancer at the Bonn Opera and at the Frankfurt Municipal Theater under Egon Madsen and William Forsythe.
As the youngest ballet director in Germany, he took over the company of the Gießen City Theater in 1985. From 1988 to 1991, Andris Plucis was ballet director at the Würzburg City Theater. His time in Würzburg was followed by an engagement as ballet director at the Darmstadt State Theater. In 1996 Andris together with the dancers Luc Vercruysse and Evan Jones from the Forsythe company, founded the independent group "the lost romeos" in Frankfurt/Main, with whom he choreographed productions in Frankfurt's Mousonturm as well as various guest performances abroad before becoming ballet director at the Landestheater Coburg. In 1998 he took up a position as ballet director and chief choreographer at the Ulm Theater, where he remained until 2009. He also worked as a choreographer in musical theater, for example in collaboration with John Cage in Frankfurt/Main, with Christoph Nel at the Musiktheater im Revier and with Hans Neuenfels at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Andris Plucis has been chief choreographer and director of the Ballett Eisenach since 2009, and has also been artistic director of the Landestheater Eisenach since the 2018-2019 season.
