Job Opportunities in the Project “Climate Emotions,” Cluster of Excellence “Climate, Climatic Change, and Society (CLICCS)” The anthropological project “Climate Emotions” investigates how people in different contexts emotionally respond to climate change and what consequences these responses entail. We are pleased to announce the first speaker in this summer’s Anthropology Colloquium. Apostolos Andrikopoulos will present a talk titled “As Brothers We Love One Another: Relational Work in Identity Loan Practice Among Unauthorized African Migrants.” The lecture will take place on Tuesday, April 14, at 6:00 PM in the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology, Seminar Room 222 (ESA West). Please note that, starting this term, the colloquium will begin promptly at 6:00 PM. We kindly ask you to arrive on time.

At this year’s meeting of the American Anthropological Association in New Orleans, Michael Schnegg was awarded the Stirling Prize for his article Collective Loneliness: Theorizing Emotions as Atmospheres. The article uses the concept of atmospheres to examine how people in rural Namibia emotionally experience climate change. We are very proud of this wonderful achievement! In next week's anthropology colloquium, Andrea Scholz from the Ethnologisches Museum Berlin will speak about long-term collaborations between the museum and the Macucu community in Colombia, reflecting on positionality and affective relationships in research and practice, and future prospects of collaborative approaches in times of a shift to the right in cultural policy. From 6-8 pm in room 222, ESA West.
