Annelie spent her semester abroad at Western University in Sydney 🇦🇺 and told us about her favorite highlights. ✨

📌 Why did you choose to study at the Western Sydney University (WSU) in Australia?

I chose WSU because of its worldwide reputation, the opportunity to study with students from all over the world and the fact that I had always wanted to live in Sydney 🌆.

📌 What was the most beautiful moment during your semester abroad?

That's really difficult to say, because I really had a lot of beautiful moments during my time! I especially liked traveling to Tasmania, camping in the Outback or exploring the east and west coast. But I will also remember the small moments like going out to eat with my fellow students, flatmates and friends or exploring Sydney and the surrounding area.

📌 What advice would you give other students for their semester abroad?

If you have ever thought about going abroad, then take the last step! Not only will you get the chance to discover a whole new country and make new friends from all over the world, but you will also learn a lot about yourself. Just do It! ☺️

Arlene, Clara and Lea spent their semester abroad at Stellenbosch University in South Africa 🇿🇦 and told us about their highlights! ☺️✨

📌 Why did you choose to study at the Stellenbosch University in South Africa?

As the decision of where we would like to spend our semester abroad came closer, we quickly realized that we would love to go to South Africa as beautiful landscapes, exotic wildlife and cultural diversity make this country unique. Of the 3 partner universities of FH Münster, Stellenbosch University appealed to us the most, as it has an excellent academic reputation worldwide and is considered one of the best universities in Africa. In addition, it is considered very safe compared to other places in South Africa.

📌 What was the most beautiful moment during your semester abroad?

It's really hard to name one particular moment which was the most beautiful. After more than 2 years with COVID, it was really nice for all of us to be able to live a normal student life again. A student life is something which you can definitely do well in Stellenbosch, since everything in the small student town is centered around the university. We spent the day together with the other internationals on the beautiful campus, attending lectures and doing sports in the evening before we met with other students for a glass of wine or a beer. Finding this normality in such a beautiful place was greatly appreciated. Of course, we also had lots of other beautiful moments during our travels.

📌 Which advice would you give other students for their semester abroad?

Choosing a country for a semester abroad was definitely not easy for us, as there are lots of different options offered by FH Münster. For all of us, South Africa was a completely new world, yet we definitely appreciated spending our semester abroad there. So that's exactly what we would advise all other students to do - get out of your comfort zone, gain new experiences on the other side of the world and face new challenges :)

Colby successfully completed his master’s degree in International Marketing and Sales in 2018 and has been working for GEA ever since 👨‍🎓.
During our interview, Colby explained why he studied in Germany in the first place and why he decided to stay 🇩🇪.

Lea participated in the IIB programme at SUNY New Paltz, spent two months on campus and did a two-months internship in Manhattan afterwards! 🗽🇺🇸
She told us about her favorite moments! 😍✨

📌 Why did you decide for the programme at SUNY New Paltz?

In 2020, I visited New York City for the first time and was impressed by this city with its diverse population, creative minds and cosmopolitan lifestyle. At that point, I decided: I want to live here one day. Then, when I saw that the FH Münster has a partner university in New York, it was clear that this would be my first choice for my semester abroad!
Moreover, the IIB programme at the State University of New York offers an exceptional concept by combining college life at SUNY New Paltz with international work experience in New York City.

📌What was the most beautiful moment during your semester abroad?

My entire time in Manhattan, the second half of my programme, was a highlight! I especially enjoyed walking to work in the morning with a view of the Empire State Building and a coffee in my hand.
The energy in this metropolis and the open-minded people are just incredible - there is something new to discover every day and it never gets boring in the "city that never sleeps".
In addition, domestic flights in the U.S. are relatively cheap, so I was able to discover other beautiful states like California, Arizona, Nevada and Massachusetts.

📌Which advice would you give other students for their semester abroad?

There is always a way, and it pays to be patient. So don't give up on your dream destination because of the long visa process or the cost. Apply for the visa in time and at best try to get a scholarship, because in the end this experience is more than worth every dollar and all efforts!

Lucas completed his master’s degree in International Marketing and Sales in 2021 and is currently working as a Shopping Account Manager for the Central European market at in Dublin, Ireland 🇮🇪. During our interview, Lucas talks about why he specifically chose FH Münster and what he likes best about his current job. 🙌🏻

Catrin spent her semester abroad at Riga Technical University in Latvia 🇱🇻 and told us about her favourite moments! ✨

📌 Why did you choose to study in Riga?

I wanted to study in a country that might not be the "typical" Erasmus country and where I had never been before. I heard a lot of positive things about Riga and decided to study there.

📌 What was the most beautiful moment during your semester abroad?

I can't even say which was the best moment because there were so many of them. I especially enjoyed traveling through the Baltic States and the Scandinavian countries.

📌 Which advice would you give other students for their semester abroad?

Join student networks and travel to beautiful countries together with your friends. Enjoy your time in another part of the world, meet different people and make friends for life.
