🕊️ EUPeace at the University of Sarajevo: Building the Future through Dialogue

As part of its commitment to peace, justice, and inclusive societies, the Univerzitet u Sarajevu recently hosted an inspiring EUPeace Information Session during the 13th International Staff Week.

🎤 Through expert panel discussions and strategic presentations, participants explored:

🔹International joint programmes & micro-credentials
🔹Student mobility & the virtual campus
🔹The Living Peace Lab: Connecting universities and communities
🔹A student-led initiative for a Declaration on Peace

The session brought together 44 representatives from 29 institutions across 16 countries – a powerful reminder of what European cooperation can achieve.

🚩 Strengthening the Alliance: EUPeace Coordination Team Visits JLU Giessen

Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen (JLU) recently welcomed the EUPeace central coordination team for Philipps-Universität Marburg for a high-level dialogue on institutional implementation and strategic alignment.

The visit brought together key figures from both sides — including Prof. Dr. Evelyn Korn (Chair of the Governing Board), Alexandre Wipf (Secretary General), Petra Kienle (Chief Development Officer), and JLU President Prof. Dr. Katharina Lorenz — alongside representatives from governance bodies and work packages.

🎯 Discussions focused on:
-Embedding EUPeace’s mission into university structures
-Strengthening communication across all levels
-Identifying shared challenges and opportunities

🤝 The exchange reaffirmed a shared commitment: building a resilient and inclusive European University through strong, continuous collaboration.

📍 Campus Arrupe | AI meets Academia

How will artificial intelligence reshape European higher education?

During the EUPeace Training Week in Madrid (8–10 July 2025), 21 participants from across the alliance came together to explore ethical, social, and educational dimensions of AI.

From keynote lectures to hands-on workshops, this three-day event fostered not only expertise but also cross-border collaboration between institutions committed to inclusive and forward-thinking education.

Shaping Europe’s Future – in Madrid!

From 23–30 June, the Summer School on European Affairs 2025 took place at Universidad Pontificia Comillas ICAI-ICADE, bringing together leading voices in EU security and Eastern policy.

Over the course of a week, students and scholars from Germany, the Czech Republic, Portugal, France, and Spain engaged in high-level sessions with top EU experts – including:

🔹 Margaritis Schinas, former Vice-President of the European Commission
🔹 Marcos Ros, Member of the European Parliament
🔹 Representatives from NATO, the European Commission, and universities across Europe

📍 Visits to the European Commission Representation in Spain and offered a unique glimpse into European policy-making in action.

This collaboration between Comillas,University of West Bohemia), and -Universität Marburg, co-organised under the umbrella of EUPeace, reflects our shared commitment to academic excellence, international cooperation, and geopolitical awareness in times of uncertainty.

🇪🇺 EUPeace at the Marburg Networking Event for Democracy 🌍

On June 24, 2025, EUPeace took part in the Networking Event for Democracy and Against Right-Wing Extremism, organized by the Marburg Network at Lokschuppen. The event brought together voices from academia, civil society, and institutions to stand united for democratic values and against extremism.

At our EUPeace information stand, we highlighted our mission as a European university alliance that goes beyond academic borders — promoting democracy, inclusion, and cross-border cooperation. Alongside our partners from the CIM Hub and the Office for Anti-discrimination and Diversity, we engaged in inspiring exchanges on the role of higher education in shaping a just and united Europe.

The day featured powerful keynote speeches, a thought-provoking panel discussion, and an interactive “speed-dating” session that sparked new ideas and connections.

Thank you to the organizers for creating such an important space for dialogue and action. EUPeace remains committed to building bridges between universities and civil society to protect and strengthen democracy across Europe.

🔹 Strengthening European Academic Cooperation |

On June 5–6, the University of Limoges had the pleasure of hosting Prof. Dr. Evelyn Korn, Prof. Dr. Anke Becker, and Petra Kienle.

This visit provided a valuable opportunity to connect with the newly elected presidential team, in office since January 2025.

🎯 A key moment was the EUPeace Board of Directors meeting held on June 6. Open to the entire university community, the session attracted strong interest and offered meaningful insights into the Alliance’s vision, opportunities, and long-term ambitions.

Together, we’re shaping a more unified and impactful European academic space.
