How can collaboration unlock the full potential of the energy transition?⚡

In our conversation with Dr. Victoria Ossadnik, COO Digital, Innovation and Inhouse Consulting and Member of the Board of Management at e.on, we explore a central success factor of the energy transition: collaboration across sectors.

For her, bringing together the energy industry, academia, corporates, and start-ups is key to accelerating innovation and delivering scalable solutions.

💭 Her message to the next generation of leaders is clear: Believe in yourself, work hard, and stay persistent.

🎉 TUM ranks among the top European universities for start-ups!

TU München ranks 4th among very large universities for the number of start-ups founded by researchers (38 in 2025), trailing only the University of Oxford, Imperial College London, and the University of Cambridge. With 235 start-ups founded by students and alumni, TUM ranks 8th overall—and is the only very large German university in Europe’s top 20.

TUM stands out due to its strong entrepreneurial ecosystem, which combines excellent research, industry collaboration, and targeted support programs for founders (such as UnternehmerTUM).

A key factor in TUM’s high ranking is the large number of successful companies founded by its students, researchers, and alumni. Many start-ups have grown into internationally active businesses, contributing to economic growth and technological advancement. 🚀

“Over the past few years, we have implemented numerous initiatives at TUM specifically designed to strengthen the entrepreneurial spirit in our university’s research and teaching,” says TUM President Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann.

👏 We are very proud of our students, alumni, and researchers!

❌ Does it matter what people lie about?

A recent study by Prof. Dr. Stefanie Jung, Prof. Dr. Peter Krebs, and Prof. Dr. Monika Leszczyńska examines how people evaluate lies in pre-contractual business negotiations, focusing on differences between moral and legal judgments.

Lying is a common feature of business negotiations and is sometimes even portrayed as a strategic skill. But does the content of the lies matter when it comes to their moral and legal judgment?

💡 Key findings
High-stakes deceptions about core contractual matters (subject matter, safety features) were viewed as both immoral and grounds for rescission
Low-stakes deceptions about peripheral issues (reservation price, timing, personal likes) were generally excused in both respects

Respondents were more likely to classify a lie as immoral than to support rescission of the contract. However, this gap varied substantially depending on the subject of the lie.

The findings underscore the need for a nuanced understanding of normative expectations and caution against treating moral judgment as a direct proxy for preferred legal outcomes.
