Unfortunately, there won't be a video uploaded this week. I was sick the last days and also did not have the energy to do proper research on selected topics. However, I want to highlight my thoughts regarding the presidential debate tonight hand what's happening in the world right now...
As some of you know, I am big fan of German newspaper "Der Spiegel". It's a very recognised magazine, especially for its investigative articles. Even though, the presidential race is omnipresent and also featured in the magazine, there is a special focus on the ongoing war in Syria...
I really appreciate the newspaper's prioritization. In today's world, we are confronted with so many news, that our eyes are dull of the horrors happening around us. And this is development is super dangerous. There are so many horrific things happening right now, but we only interest in the latest scandals, such as the break-up of Brangelina or the chauvinistic and sexist behaviour of Donald Trump...
Without doubt, the result of the presidential race will have an enormous impact. And of course, I really hope that Donald Trump won't make the race. However, it's important to open our eyes right now. And face the challenges and conflicts which are happening all around the world. The wave of refugees won't stop in the near future. There are still thousands of families who hope at the borders for a better future. There is still war in Aleppo. But we remain silent. Stunned by the recent terror activities of ISIS. Stunned by fear. ..
It's really sad that we focus more and more on what we distinguish (religion, skin color, education) but rather than on what us unifies. ..
And I really don't want to sound like a 70year old flower power hippy from Woodstock. But it is just the truth......
Our world is ruled by big companies which again are controlled by the interest of few people. It's not religion, it's not politics. It's just simple math. Revenue versus Jesus. ROI versus Allah. But I really don't want to react on capitalism. ..
What really bothers me is that the financial interest of a few power seekers is able to abolish the developments of the last 10 to 20 years. Call me a blue-eyed boy, but I thought that the digital age could not only connect people from all around the world, but also generate a collective awareness. Even perhaps a global moral. Instead police shooting and beheading videos flood the social networks. Why are people more interested in watching puppy videos than experience the inhumanity of war in Syria. How can we be that myopic and hypocrite. ..
I want peace, I want progress and I wish everyone a wealthy living. I give a s**t if someone earns 30times more than me. But it really f***s me off when there are children working trash mountains searching for reusable elements. We could make the turnaround. Face the effects of global warming. Working together for a brighter future. With technological innovations in all different fields. And no this is not fictional. If we would put aside our differences and focus on what could be. No poverty, no starvation, equal education and most importantly happiness for everyone...
