As usual, being the first conference of the year, the IEEE Radio & Wireless Week this year took place in San Antonio, Texas.
With two presentations and one poster, contributed three papers to the conference program, presented by Thomas Ufschlag and Janis Wörmann.
The is also happy to have contributed to the workshop program as well as to the 3rd MTT-S Space Night as part of the where Benjamin Schoch gave a talk on E-band ground stations and participated in an exciting panel discussion.
We also present this year's quiz champion Thomas aka "Uffi" who won the quiz game at MTT-S Space Night. Thanks to Jan Budroweit for the organization of this fun and exciting event! 🥳

At IMS 2023 in San Diego, the IEEE MTT-Sat Challenge came to an end. Over the last four years, we competed over several phases with our proposal "W-Band GaN PA with Pre-Distortion and Efficiency Enhancement Based on GaN DC/DC Variable Power Supply for Space Applications" and were fortunate to be one of the three finalists. During IMS 2023 we had the opportunity to showcase our 2-unit CubeSat hardware demonstrator at the exhibition and present our final results as part of a special session.
Even though we couldn't secure the first place, we are happy that we came that far. Sincere congratulations to our Japanese colleagues for winning the challenge!

Thanks to Markus Gardill and Holger Maune for organizing and coordinating this innovative challenge!

Thanks to our partners and for their support throughout the project!

A special thanks to and Matthias Kohler for providing instrumentation for our booth at the IMS exhibition!

From Jun. 11 to Jun. 16 the International Microwave Symposium (IMS) 2023 took place in San Diego, California. ILH was represented by Ingmar Kallfass, Benjamin Schoch, Dominik Wrana, and Dominik Koch. With the paper entitled "Instrumentation for the Time and Frequency Domain Characterization of Terahertz Communication Transceivers and their Building Blocks", we contributed to the conference program and presented novel measurement capabilities in W- and H-band with our CrossLink measurement system.

This week the 35th IEEE International Symposium on Power Semiconductor Devices and ICs (ISPSD 2023) took place in Hong Kong.
The ILH was represented by Dominik Koch, who contributed to the conference program with a talk about his paper "Application-Oriented Characterization of Thermally Optimized, Asymmetrical Single Chip Packages for 100 V GaN HEMTs", which presents the results of the ECPE Project "Packaging Technology of GaN LV msPEBB Phase 2".
It was a pleasure to present the publication, see old colleagues and friends and meet new ones!

On Wednesday, May 10, 18 people from ILH, including ten students who are currently writing their thesis, visited PCIM (International Exhibition and Conference on Power Electronics, Intelligent Motion, Renewable Energy and Energy Management) 2023 in Nuremberg. In addition to visiting the exhibition, during which many impressions were gained about current topics in the industry, Oleksandr Solomakha was also supported in his poster presentation about the paper "Digital Twin Approach for Accurate System-Level Simulation of Wide-Bandgap Power Semiconductors using Temperature Dependent Parameters".

From 03-19-23 to 03-23-23 the IEEE Annual Power Electronics Exposition and Conference (APEC) took place in Orlando/ Florida.
The ILH was represented by Kevin Muñoz-Barón and Mathias Weiser, who contributed to the conference programme with their publications "Analysis of a Transistor-Based On-State Voltage Measurement Circuit for Condition Monitoring of Power Transistors" and "A Fast On-State Drain-to-Source Voltage Amplifier for the Dynamic Characterization of GaN Power Transistors".

The festive wrap-up session of the seminar "Selected Topics in Power and Microwave Engineering" took place at the ILH. Of the 31 participants, two students were awarded the best paper prize for originality, value, clarity and quality. Congratulations, Satabdi Bastia and Burak Ozat, for your contributions "Temperature Measurement Methods in WBG Power Semiconductors" and "SiGe BiCMOS - next generation RF node?" respectively!

From Sept. 25 to Sept. 30 the European Microwave Week (EuMW) took place in Milan, Italy. Besides meeting colleagues and discussing recent developments in the world of sub-millimeter waves and next-generation communication like 6G, our colleague Simon Haußmann presented his paper "Polarisation Multiplex in 300 GHz Wireless Communication Link using Orthomode Transducer" based on experiments carried out in the frame of the Open6GHub.

We're already looking forward to meeting everyone again at EuMW2023 in Berlin, Germany!

Credits to our colleagues Jennifer Leypold and Michael Rozmann at miro:sys for the nice picture!

The ILH team is proud to explore 6G communication with the brand-new CrossLink system. CrossLink is an innovative measurement system targeting wireless communication systems exploiting the massive aggregation of wideband, complex modulated channels using frequency-division multiplexing in the frequency ranges from 70-110 GHz and from 250-325 GHz, as part of the technological backbone of 6G networks. The custom approach developed by ILH and INT is to adopt wideband frequency up-conversion using highly stable local oscillator sources in a simultaneous combination with wideband signal synthesis and analysis in the time domain.

The CrossLink system was funded by the German Science Foundation (DFG) in the frame of the major instrumentation initiative “Messsysteme für ultrahohe Datenraten für Kommunikationstechniken der Zukunft”.
