Nach unserem Post mit dem größten Buch der UB, folgt jetzt ein weiteres Fundstück: Das dickste und noch dazu der älteste Druck der UB aus dem Jahr 1469.
Es trägt den Titel "Catholicon" von Johannes Ianuensis und ist ein lateinisches Wörterbuch, das dazu diente, die Bibel „richtig“ auszulegen. Eine Grammatik ergänzte das Wörterbuch, das teilweise auch enzyklopädische Einträge enthielt. Es ist in fünf Abschnitte aufgeteilt: Orthographie, Akzentsetzung, Etymologie, Syntax und Redeweisen.

On the picture you can see the thickest book of the UB with its dimensions of 43x30x17cm. Moreover, it is the oldest print in the UB, dating from 1469. It bears the title "Catholicon" by Johannes Ianuensis and is a Latin dictionary intended to help interpret the Bible “correctly.” The dictionary was supplemented by a grammar and also included some encyclopedic entries. It is divided into five sections: orthography, accentuation, etymology, syntax, and figures of speech.
