In this video we speak about the status of hyper-polyglot and actively knowing 15 + languages. To the this may seem impressive to the layman. However, there are nuances that are generally not addressed. Such as the fact that languages are in constant motion. We notice this pattern extremely clearly in the English from the UK with its quick change of accent. In French also, there are evolutions. Sometimes it is the accent, the grammar or even the intonation or phrase construction. This implies that we must keep our finger on the pulse and keep up to date. This becomes very unlikely as soon as we speak of 15 languages. (even 3 for that matter) Let's not forget to approach hyper-polyglots with caution!

I remember when francophone rap came out (French/Belgian) in the 90s. This was way before widespread internet and researching lyrics was hard to do. You either spoke English or not. For those who just had school English, the contents of rap lyrics was impossible to understand. As a consequence, many francophone rappers heard a beat and a voice and concluded that the rule of the game as to "speak tough" - this led to many amateur and professional crews putting on this big booming voice that didn't resemble the way anyone spoke. A lot of the lyrical artistry and intent of the American artists was lost on them. Did the genre ever recover? Hard to say.
