إنجاز دولي جديد لجامعة العلمين الدولية... أول جامعة معززة للصحة في مصر وإفريقيا
في إحتفالية مميزة شهدتها جامعة العلمين الدولية، إحتفلت الجامعة بحصولها على إعتراف منظمة الصحة العالمية (WHO) كـأول جامعة معززة للصحة في جمهورية مصر العربية وإفريقيا، في إنجاز دولي يعكس إلتزام الجامعة ببناء بيئة جامعية داعمة للصحة والرفاهية والإستدامة.
وشهد الإحتفالية الدكتور خالد عبدالغفار، وزير الصحة والسكان، والدكتور عبدالعزيز قنصوة، وزير التعليم العالي والبحث العلمي والقائم بعمل وزير الثقافة، بحضور اللواء محمد الزملوط، محافظ مطروح، والدكتور حسن ندير، رئيس مجلس أمناء جامعة العلمين الدولية، والدكتور عصام الكردي، رئيس جامعة العلمين الدولية، والدكتورة سمر الفقي، المستشار الإقليمي للمحددات الإجتماعية للصحة والمبادرات المجتمعية ممثلة عن المكتب الإقليمي لمنظمة الصحة العالمية لإقليم شرق المتوسط، إلى جانب نخبة من رؤساء الجامعات وقيادات وزارتي الصحة والتعليم العالي والجامعة ومنظمة الصحة العالمية.
ويأتي هذا الإعتراف تتويجًا لجهود جامعة العلمين الدولية في تطبيق نهج الجامعات المعززة للصحة وفق معايير منظمة الصحة العالمية، بما يتجاوز تقديم المبادرات والأنشطة الصحية المنفصلة، ليجعل الصحة والرفاهية جزءًا أصيلًا من الثقافة المؤسسية ومنظومة العمل الجامعي.
وقد أظهر تقييم منظمة الصحة العالمية نجاح الجامعة في إضفاء الطابع المؤسسي على تعزيز الصحة، وتهيئة بيئة تعليمية آمنة وداعمة للصحة والرفاهية، من خلال منظومة متكاملة تشمل:
- دمج تعزيز الصحة في الحوكمة والسياسات المؤسسية.
- توفير بيئة جامعية آمنة وداعمة للصحة والرفاهية.
- الإهتمام بالصحة الجسدية والنفسية للطلاب والعاملين.
- دعم أنماط الحياة الصحية والوقاية ونشر الوعي الصحي.
- تعزيز الإستدامة والإستعداد للطوارئ.
- دعم المشاركة المجتمعية وربط المعرفة الأكاديمية بإحتياجات المجتمع.
- توظيف البحث العلمي متعدد التخصصات لخدمة الصحة وجودة الحياة.
وأكد الدكتور خالد عبدالغفار أن حصول الجامعة على هذا الإعتراف يمثل تتويجًا لعمل مؤسسي متكامل، مشيرًا إلى أن مفهوم الجامعة المعززة للصحة يقوم على جعل الصحة والرفاهية جزءًا أساسيًا من منظومة الجامعة وثقافتها المؤسسية.
كما أكد الدكتور عبدالعزيز قنصوة أن هذا الإنجاز الدولي يعكس قدرة الجامعات المصرية على تطبيق المعايير والممارسات العالمية، مشيرًا إلى أن الجامعة الحديثة لا يقتصر دورها على التعليم والبحث العلمي، بل يمتد إلى الإسهام في بناء الإنسان وتحسين جودة حياته.
ومن جانبه، أكد الدكتور حسن ندير أن حصول جامعة العلمين الدولية على شهادة «جامعة معززة للصحة» يمثل تتويجًا لإلتزام الجامعة بتحويل مبادئ تعزيز الصحة والإستدامة إلى ممارسة مؤسسية ومجتمعية، مؤكدًا أن هذا الإنجاز يمثل بداية لمسئولية مستمرة تجاه الأجيال الحالية والمستقبلية.
وأكد الدكتور عصام الكردي، رئيس جامعة العلمين الدولية، أن حصول الجامعة على شهادة «جامعة معززة للصحة» من منظمة الصحة العالمية، كأول جامعة ومؤسسة تحصل على هذا اللقب في مصر وإفريقيا، يجسد رؤية الجامعة كإحدى جامعات الجيل الرابع، من خلال دمج مفاهيم الصحة والإستدامة في العملية التعليمية، ودعم البحث العلمي، وتوفير خدمات صحية عادلة، وتعزيز المشاركة المجتمعية، بما يتسق مع أهداف التنمية المستدامة، وعلى رأسها الهدف الثالث المتعلق بالصحة.
وأشار إلى أن هذا الإنجاز يأتي بالتزامن مع عدد من الإنجازات الدولية المهمة للجامعة، من بينها حصول برنامج علوم الحاسب بجامعة العلمين الدولية على الإعتماد الدولي من ABET، وإدراج الجامعة ضمن القائمة القصيرة لجوائز Times Higher Education Arab Awards 2026 تقديرًا لمساهمتها المتميزة في التنمية الإقليمية.
وتؤكد جامعة العلمين الدولية أن حصولها على لقب أول جامعة معززة للصحة في مصر وإفريقيا ليس محطة ختامية، بل بداية لمسار مستدام تواصل من خلاله الجامعة تطوير بيئتها التعليمية والبحثية والمجتمعية، ونشر تجربة الجامعات المعززة للصحة في مصر وإقليم شرق المتوسط، وتعزيز دورها في خدمة الإنسان والمجتمع وتحسين الصحة والرفاهية وجودة الحياة.
وعلى هامش الإحتفالية، تفقد وزيرا الصحة والتعليم العالي مبنى كلية طب الفم والأسنان بالجامعة، وما يضمه من معامل وتجهيزات حديثة، واستمعا إلى شرح حول أحدث الأجهزة والتقنيات المستخدمة في تدريب الطلاب وتأهيلهم بما يتوافق مع متطلبات سوق العمل.

A New International Achievement for Alamein International University... Egypt and Africa’s First Health Promoting University
In a distinguished ceremony held at Alamein International University, the University celebrated its recognition by the World Health Organization (WHO) as the first Health Promoting University in the Arab Republic of Egypt and Africa, marking a significant international achievement that reflects the University’s commitment to building a healthy, supportive, and sustainable university environment.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, and Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Culture, in the presence of Major General Mohamed El-Zomlot, Governor of Matrouh, Dr. Hassan Nadeer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Alamein International University, Dr. Essam Elkordi, President of Alamein International University, and Dr. Samar El-Feki, Regional Advisor for Social Determinants of Health and Community Engagement Initiatives, representing the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean. The ceremony was also attended by a distinguished group of university presidents and senior officials from the Ministries of Health and Higher Education, the University, and the World Health Organization.
This recognition represents the culmination of Alamein International University’s efforts to implement the Health Promoting Universities approach in accordance with WHO standards. The approach goes beyond implementing separate health initiatives and activities, making health and well-being an integral part of the University’s institutional culture and overall operations.
The World Health Organization’s assessment demonstrated the University’s success in institutionalizing health promotion and creating a safe and health-supportive educational environment through an integrated framework that includes:
- Integrating health promotion into institutional governance and policies.
- Providing a safe university environment that supports health and well-being.
- Promoting the physical and mental health of students and staff.
- Supporting healthy lifestyles, prevention, and health awareness.
- Strengthening sustainability and emergency preparedness.
- Promoting community engagement and connecting academic knowledge with community needs.
- Harnessing multidisciplinary scientific research to advance health and quality of life.
Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar emphasized that the University’s recognition represents the culmination of comprehensive institutional efforts, noting that the Health Promoting University concept is based on making health and well-being fundamental components of the University’s system and institutional culture.
Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa also emphasized that this international achievement reflects the ability of Egyptian universities to adopt and implement global standards and practices. He noted that the role of a modern university extends beyond education and scientific research to include contributing to human development and improving quality of life.
For his part, Dr. Hassan Nadeer affirmed that Alamein International University’s recognition as a Health Promoting University represents the culmination of the University’s commitment to transforming the principles of health promotion and sustainability into institutional and community practices. He emphasized that this achievement marks the beginning of an ongoing responsibility toward both present and future generations.
Dr. Essam Elkordi, President of Alamein International University, stated that the University’s recognition by the World Health Organization as a Health Promoting University, and the first university and institution to receive this distinction in Egypt and Africa, embodies the University’s vision as a fourth-generation university. This vision integrates health and sustainability concepts into the educational process, supports scientific research, provides equitable health services, and strengthens community engagement, in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3, Good Health and Well-Being.
He further noted that this achievement comes alongside a number of significant international accomplishments by the University, including the international accreditation of Alamein International University’s Computer Science program by ABET, as well as the University’s inclusion on the shortlist for the Times Higher Education (THE) Arab Awards 2026, in recognition of its outstanding contribution to regional development.
Alamein International University emphasizes that being recognized as Egypt and Africa’s first Health Promoting University is not an endpoint, but rather the beginning of a sustainable journey through which the University will continue to develop its educational, research, and community environment, share the Health Promoting Universities experience across Egypt and the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region, and strengthen its role in serving people and communities while advancing health, well-being, and quality of life.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, the Ministers of Health and Higher Education toured the University’s Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, including its laboratories and state-of-the-art facilities. They were briefed on the latest equipment and technologies used to train and prepare students in accordance with the evolving requirements of the labor market.
