Nursing is one of the oldest medical professions since the dawn of history. It is based on
knowledge and skill because it is based on knowledge and technology to keep pace with the
rapid progress in the field of medical and nursing sciences. In view of the community’s need
for distinguished cadres in their scientific and practical level in the field of nursing, the
University of Alexandria took the initiative to conclude an agreement with the World Health
Organization to establish the first institution to teach nursing sciences in the Middle East to
graduate nurses who are scientifically, morally and psychologically qualified to advance the
mission of the nursing profession when the Higher Institute of Nursing was established The
University of Alexandria, under the supervision of the Faculty of Medicine, on July 4, 1954.
The first batch of university nurses with a bachelor’s degree graduated in 1959, and their
number was (five).
Then a master's degree was established in 1969/1970 . A doctorate in nursing sciences
followed in 1976/1977, then the Higher Institute of Nursing was transformed into a faculty .
Completed elements and pillars of Presidential Decree No. 287 of 1994 accrediting the first
university faculty of nursing in the Arab Republic of Egypt affiliated to Alexandria
University.

The Faculty of Nursing was honored to participate in Alexandria University’s Iftar for International Students, held in a warm Ramadan atmosphere filled with harmony and goodwill.
We are proud to be part of this event, which reflects the spirit of cooperation and cultural diversity within the university, and highlights Alexandria University’s continuous support for its international students and its commitment to integrating them into the university community.
