TAFL (Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language)was established in 1985 by the University of Alexandria, as a response to the demand put forward by the Arabic Departments of European and other international Universities. TAFL receives students from all over the world, and has signed co-operation agreements with many universities in the United States of America, Spain, France, Russia, Germany, and the United Kingdom. In addition, private/individual students whom are granted fellowship by Universities, governments, or organization have been served by TAFL. Some of these students came from Sweden, Japan, Korea, Russia, Germany, Spain, and many more. TAFL offers a unique experience for its students; they will be given the opportunity to get a first-hand experience of the language as it is used by its native speakers. We have recently been serving more than 600 students from all over the world. Admission fees:

1) Drama club: - 20 hrs per semester (2Hrs a week) (60 USD). 2) Cooking club: -Once a month, one cooking lesson including the meal (6 USD).
3) Calligraphy club: - 20hrs per semester (2Hrs a week) 60 USD.
4) Egyptian Jewelry club: - 20 hrs per semester (2Hrs a week) 50 USD.
5) Diving club:-. It includes 5 lectures and five plunges, the fees include the lectures, the plunges and the suit. (150 USD)
6) Monthly cultural and touristic tours :- ( 7USD per time)
N.B Fees are discounted according to what have been agreed on during the agreement between Alexandria University and foreign universities for their students. Official Formalities:-
The center is responsible for arranging residence permits, Faculty of Arts Ids, TAFL center’s Ids and any other formalities required from the students by the Egyptian government. (Mr.Sherif Ghazal, student Affairs, TAFL center). Official procedures for extracting residence permits and faculty Id:

- Residence permits for less than a year: 53 EGP

- Official fees: 20 % of the total

The administration team of the TAFL center is extremely co-operative and flexible when it comes to the students' services and any kind of help they may need Accommodation:- Students have the opportunity to choose between different housing options such as:-
1-Dorms: '
-The university dorms provide an environment conductive to both personal development and academic achievement. -Students stay with Egyptian students but they will stay in aseparate floor having all the facilities they may need such as: kitchens, dining rooms, laundries, cafeterias, gymnasiums, playgrounds, TV, radio and music rooms, theater and reading rooms. 2-Private apartments:- TAFL center helps the students to find an accommodation within the city of Alexandria, but it is important to notify us at least two weeks before your arrival in order to guarantee finding you a quality residence. -The center makes sure that those apartments have specific quality measures such asbeing as close as possible to the center not far than 20 minutes walk. -Equipped with all the furniture and the facilities they may need including TV, fridge, stove,and bathroom and air conditioner.
-It is possible that they would be shared with students from the center.
3-Host Families:-
The center has a network of host families who have been well chosen. If you would like to stay with an Egyptian host family please notify us at least one month before your arrival.
