The International Relation Office (IRO) at Cairo University (CU) was established in 2014 with the objective of contributing to the internationalization of Cairo University. Before 2014, support for international students, research grants, and international agreements were implemented using scattered functional units across the campus and departments. The consolidation of these functional units aim
ed at improving both effectiveness and efficiency of operation, as well as, enhancing the services that our customers can receive from a single point of contact in campus. IRO is structured into three main departments; namely, the Grants and Research Projects (GRP) Department, the International Agreements Department (IA) , and the International Students Affairs (ISA) Departments. The GRP department is responsible for all activities and services related to grants and research projects with the main objective of increasing the number of high-quality strategic projects that CU participate in with international partners. This objective is achieved by providing timely information on open calls, partners’ selection, and advises on writing and managing grant proposals. The IA department is responsible for maximizing value from current and future agreements between CU and the world. The department plays an important role in shaping the strategic partnership of CU with universities and organizations that support the internationalization vision of CU. The ISA department is responsible for supporting international students across campus to enhance their experience while studying at CU. This objective is realized by providing services that supports the students from admission to graduation from the university.
