The International Model of the European Union (ImEU) is a simulation model of the European Union held in the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University. It aims at developing students' negotiation and persu
asion skills, their presentation and public speaking abilities, as well as helping them find out new skills they never knew existed. Through a system that depends on active participation, free debate, and role-playing, the model enhances the young participants' critical thinking, as well as their opinion building and expression. Another main goal of imEU is building and maintaining a strong based cultural dialogue, which is achieved through interaction between many students from different backgrounds, different cultures, as well as different countries within the model. In addition to helping participants develop their various skills as well as discover new, uncharted ones. ImEU also instills in them many important values such as flexibility, tolerance, and acceptance of others. Throughout the past years, the model has been able to attract around one thousand students yearly, among which nearly three hundred and fifty are accepted after a long process of interviewing and selection. The accepted delegates attend around ten sessions throughout the academic year, through which they work on developing their skills, as well as discuss many debatable issues and controversial topics related to European Union, in order to be ready to participate in the annual imEU conference which is held in March. During the 4-day conference, they get the chance to apply everything they learned during their sessions, further stretching their potentials and promoting their communication skills as well as their problem solving and conflict resolution techniques.
