* Hoopoe is named after onomatopoeic sound produced by the bird: oop-oop-oop.

* It has long and strong black beak. It is curved and adapted for the feeding on the ground , it eats different type of insects, small reptiles, snails, frogs, seeds, berries and other types of plant materials.
* Hoopoe is characterized by undulating flight. Movement of its wings resembles the movement of the wings of a butterfly.

* Hoopoe is a territorial animal. Territory is usually populated with a single mating couple. Male will readily fight with intruders to defend its territory. Fights can be very violent and may end with serious eye injuries that can lead to blindness.

* Female is responsible for the nest and for the eggs until the hatching. Male feeds the female during this period.

* Number of eggs depends on the climate. It can range from 7 to 12 eggs per season. Eggs are milky white in color. They will hatch after incubation period of 15 to 18 days.

**(( Female secretes a substance of foul odor from the uropygial gland. This liquid smells like rotten meat. Due to unpleasant smell, most predators will stay away from the nest. On the other hand, insects (hoopoe's food) will be attracted. ))**

_____ Average lifespan of hoopoe in the wild is 10 years ____

Narwhals ( Unicorn of the sea )

* Narwhals are mid-sized whales living in the cold waters of the Arctic Circle near northern Canada and Greenland.

* Male narwhals possess a great spiraled tooth that projects from their heads. The long, hornlike tooth can reach up to 3 m (10 ft.) in length .

* This enlarged tooth is called a tusk which has sensory capability and up to 10 million nerve endings inside. Some narwhals have up to two tusks, while others have none.

* They feed more regularly in the winter, consuming fish like cod and halibut, shrimp, and squid.

* The medical term for 'cherry eye' is nictitans gland prolapse, or prolapse of the gland of the third eyelid.

* Unlike people, dogs have a 'third eyelid' that contains a tear gland and is located in the corner of each eye.

* Under normal circumstances, this gland is not visible and aids in the production of tears.

* For some reason, which is not completely understood, the gland of the third eyelid prolapses or comes out of its normal position and swells creating the condition known as cherry eye.

* The exact cause of cherry eye is not known, but it is strongly suspected that it is due to a weakness of the connective tissue that attaches the gland to the surrounding structures of the eye.

* The weakness of the connective tissue allows the gland to prolapse. Once the gland prolapses and is exposed to the dry air and irritants, it can become infected and/or begin to swell.

* The gland often becomes irritated, red, and swollen.

* There is sometimes a mucous discharge and if the animals rub or scratch at it, they can traumatize the gland further or possibly create an ulcer on the surface of the eye.

* Treatment of cherry eye is very straightforward and consists of surgically repositioning the gland.

* Topical or injectable treatments of antibiotics and steroids are rarely effective in reducing the gland and allowing for correction without surgery.

* Because the exposed gland is at greater risk for further trauma or infection, prompt surgical replacement is the best choice.

* Poecilotheria metallica is a species of tarantula.
* It reflects brilliant metallic blue color.
* Like others in its genus it exhibits an intricate fractal-like pattern on the abdomen.
* The species' natural habitat is deciduous forest in Andhra Pradesh, in central southern India .
* In the wild, P. metallica live in holes of tall trees where they make asymmetric funnel webs.
* Their primary prey consists of various flying insects, which they seize in flight and paralyze.
