Your experience in Spain starts here!

Today, students from Illinois State University kicked things off with an orientation session at the Universidad de Alcalá and Instituto Franklin- UAH, getting ready for the weeks ahead and learning the essentials for their stay in Spain.

Over the next eight weeks, they’ll step into real classroom environments, observe teachers in action, plan lessons, and lead group activities. A chance to put theory into practice, discover new teaching approaches, and experience education from an international perspective!

Looking for an international experience that combines academic exploration, cultural immersion, and life in ?

The International Studies Program at Instituto Franklin- UAH brings students from universities around the world to Alcalá de Henares, , for a semester of interdisciplinary learning in an international academic environment.

Choose from courses taught entirely in English across fields including Social Sciences, Business, Humanities, Education, and more, and enroll in four courses for a total of 18 ECTS credits (12 US credits).

But your experience goes beyond the classroom. Studying in Alcalá de Henares means discovering Spanish traditions, language, history, and everyday life while becoming part of an international student community!

Yesterday, our Study Abroad in Spain students explored the rich cultural heritage behind Spanish cuisine through “La herencia andalusí,” a cooking workshop held as part of their course "España y su gastronomía"

The session offered a hands-on approach to the influence of Al-Andalus on Spanish gastronomy, bringing history and culinary traditions together through ingredients, techniques, and flavors that continue to shape Spain’s food culture today!

An experience where learning about Spain goes beyond the classroom and into the kitchen!

A weekend in A Coruña! 🌊

This past weekend, our Fall 2026 students from Butler University took their Study Abroad in Spain journey to the northwestern coast of Spain for two days of history, culture, and new experiences.

Their visit took them from the iconic Torre de Hércules and the historic center, including Plaza de María Pita and the Iglesia de Santiago, to Castillo de San Antón, where they discovered more about the city's history and heritage.

The weekend also brought a taste of Galicia at MEGA, the Estrella Galicia Museum, where students explored the story behind one of Spain's best-known b**r brands and enjoyed a tasting experience!

Something special is coming to Alcalá de Henares 🐦

The Semana Cervantina has just been declared a Festivity of International Tourist Interest, a new milestone for one of Alcalá’s most important cultural celebrations!

And our will get to experience it firsthand!

From October 8–12, the historic center of Alcalá will become a celebration of Miguel de Cervantes, the Spanish Golden Age, and the literary heritage of the city.
