📣 Conference – Rethinking Care in a Socio-Technical Environment
“What is good care in a socio-technical care environment? An empirical ethics approach”
🗓 March 11, 3pm–6pm
📍 Bâtiment Recherche Sud, Condorcet Campus, Room 0.015 & Online
Politicians often promote telecare as an efficient and affordable solution in providing medical care for an ageing population with chronic diseases. While technology promises better self-management and reduced healthcare workload, critics warn of risks: older adults may end up under constant surveillance yet isolated from meaningful human contact.
This talk presents some of the detailed ethnographic analyses of pioneering care practices where patients and nurses actively use telecare devices. It raises urgent questions on how innovative care can be grounded in reality rather than hopes, hype, or nightmares.
