Workshop registration is finally open for Aag2020 at École des Ponts ParisTech ! We were fortunate to have talented workshop leaders who adapted their proposal for an 100% online format.

You can look at the workshop description on the website of AAG2020 and register on the link below!

We are happy to announce that registration is now open for the virtual workshops on a first come, first serve basis.

The workshop series include six online webinars on April 26-27 from presumably between 9:00 – 18:00 hrs with keynote lectures during lunch break at noon. You can access the current workshop programme here (https://www.aag2020.com/list-of-workshop) and register here (https://www.azur-colloque.fr/DR01/inscription/inscription/130)

Do specialized architects - especially those experts in digital technologies - have a role to play in the construction industry? If yes, which one? And if yes, why do they matter?

This will be one of the main topics covered in our next with Nicolas Sénémaud of Dassault Systèmes (Design by Data Steering Committee member)

Aldo Sollazzo is a faculty member of Design by Data Executive Master in Computational Design, Digital Manufacturing in Architecture and Robotics.

He is teaching this week the course "From Data to Information" at Ecole des Ponts ParisTech (remotely from Barcelona where he lives and works).

This seminar - based on Rhino, Grasshopper and Python - will introduce students to spatial metrics and advanced visualizations with the scope to better understand complex spatial dynamics.
Starting from basic concepts, students will be guided towards data science applications, implementing computer vision methods and machine learning to segment spatial phenomenon into informative cartographic representations.

In occasion of Aldo's course, we are glad to host a public online lecture to share with a broader audience his works and approaches to design and technology.

Aldo Sollazzo will introduce the latest work of his company Noumena, integrating robotics, computer vision, and machine learning to determine spatial metrics improving efficiency, resiliency and logistics of spatial configurations. Noumena's goal is to use data to offer a clearer insight into urban habitats, on-site construction and micro-farming systems establishing parameters to support decision making.

Lea Khairallah is an architect from Beirut. She joined Design by Data executive master in 2019 for her interest in Computational Design. Passionate about optimization and climate-based analysis, she did her internship at consultancy where she participated on the development of the MESH research project. 💥
With her research project (which will be presented on Dec. 18th for the final dissertation) she is developing a tool for “Using generative adversarial networks (GAN) to generate optimized urban patterns and reduce urban heat island effects”.

"Can we fabricate more than we can design?"

"We need tools for search and exploration,
rather than simply control and execution.”

- Michael Hansmeyer

The below TED talk is one of the list of reccomneded talks we provide our students at the beginning of the year to enter the cultural scene of Computational Design.

Feel free to share your thoughts!

Inspired by cell division, Michael Hansmeyer writes algorithms that design outrageously fascinating shapes and forms with millions of facets. No person could draft them by hand, but they're buildable -- and they could revolutionize the way we think of architectural form.
