We are so excited to welcome new members to the society so keep an eye on our social media to hear about some of the events we will be running in Welcome Week and the first couple of weeks of term!

🎉TERM 1 SOCIALS🎉

With the start of term approaching, we wanted to share with you our timeline of FrenchSoc events for Term 1! We have a range of socials with something for everyone, and we can’t wait for you to get involved!

Keep an eye out for details of our Welcome Week events (which Freshers can sign up for through the Warwick Welcome Week timetable). On Wednesday we have a relaxed Meet the Exec at the campus Terrace bar, and on Friday our Leamington Pub Tour!

✈️YEAR ABROAD INFORMATION TALK✈️
 
Join us on Monday 20th June at 2pm for a Teams meeting where we will be discussing the year abroad and giving tips for those getting ready for their time abroad. We know the preparation process over the summer can be daunting so we will be giving advice on visas, bank accounts, accommodation, and info on each placement type as well as location-specific guidance. Keep an eye on our socials before the event as you will also have the chance to ask us any questions you want answered.

This is an ENTIRELY STUDENT-LED event (independent from SMLC) where we will be giving unfiltered and honest advice as we are fresh out of finishing our years abroad!

This event is for any languages student but particularly French students. We HIGHLY recommend that second years come to this event as it’ll contain information from those just having gone through the process, and without which you might be feeling a bit lost.
First years should also think about coming as the process to apply will be coming around quickly!

Anyone who studies a language is welcome, alongside their plus one from outside the languages department!

It will be held on the 28th of May at 7pm-midnight at Chesford Grange! 🕺

Member tickets are £40 and non-member tickets are £45. 🎫

If you are bringing a plus one you must each have your own tickets otherwise you will be refused entry.

We will be in touch closer to the time with menu choices, it will consist of a starter, main and dessert and you will receive a free welcome drink on entry.

🇫🇷BY-ELECTIONS🇫🇷

Hello everyone!
We hope you’ve had a good Easter break!

We’ll be holding a by-election next week for the following positions: Academic Officer, Sports Officer and Events Coordinator(s). For Events Coordinator, you can run individually or in a team of two.

If you would like to nominate yourself, please email us your manifesto so we can put it out on our socials next week when voting opens. Nominations close at the end of the day on Wednesday 27 April and voting will open the following day. We will then announce who has successfully secured their position on Monday 2 May.

You can now officially apply for French Exec positions! For instructions see our previous post which provides for details on the different steps and dates📄

Key information includes:
1. apply on SU website
2. email your manifesto to the French Society email (found in previous post) before the 14th
3. be prepared to present your manifesto and answer some questions on a Teams Meeting Call on the 14th March!

Bonjour! We’re beginning the new French Society Exec applications! In this post we have a list of the roles available, and in the next few days we will provide details on how the process will work.

For now we have made a list of the roles and the duties which come with each.

(note: social secs and PR secs can apply in pairs should they wish to)

Any roles not mentioned in this post (e.g. ball secretary, academic officer, tour secretary etc) can be officiated once the new exec decides what will be necessary

If you want to ask any of the current exec questions about their positions feel free to DM them! (find their instagram on posts further down our feed)
