ISU provides an interdisciplinary education in the context of an intercultural and international environment to support the development of future leaders in the world space community. The SSP offers its participants a unique and comprehensive education covering all aspects of space programs and enterprises including space phy

sical sciences, space systems engineering, policy and law, business and management, space and society, satellite applications, and space life sciences and human spaceflight. Each summer ISU offers this intense nine-week course designed for post-graduate university students and professionals of all experience levels and disciplines. The site of the SSP changes annually, making it a unique educational concept and building on the fundamental ISU tenant of an international experience. The SSP core lecture series serves as the foundation on which the more in-depth activities undertaken in the seven departments are built. The team projects provide the participants with an international and intercultural team working experience wherein they must not only refine the topic as a team, but also produce professional quality reports and final presentations, all in the span of a few weeks.

Competition and collaboration. In space, you need both. 🌍📈

When there’s competition between nations and commercial players it pushes innovation forward and drives new technology. But when the goal is staying on the Moon, reaching Mars, and building something that lasts, no one gets there without working together.

As Dr. Pascale Ehrenfreund puts it: "Competition helps innovation and drives technology."

The Artemis programme and the ambitions beyond it depend on long-term planning and nations complementing each other's capabilities. That balance between competing and cooperating isn't a contradiction. It's the strategy. 🤝

Dr. Ehrenfreund joined ISU MSS 26' students Darius Dantzler and Nikola Mazzarella for our latest ISU podcast to unpack exactly that.

🛰🚀 Behind every space mission, every satellite, every rover, every crewed flight, is a network of nations, agencies, and experts working together toward a shared goal.

🌍 As Dr. Pascale Ehrenfreund puts it: "All space missions are done through international cooperation."

It's something that sits at the very heart of ISU. “International” is one of our founding values for a reason. Space demands it.

Dr. Ehrenfreund joined ISU MSS 26' students Darius Dantzler and Nikola Mazzarella for our latest ISU podcast, a conversation on collaboration, ambition, and what it really takes to operate beyond our planet. 🤝

🌌 "We need to encourage new awe and wonder for our humanity."

Space is part of your daily life, whether you know it or not. 🛰️

Yet most people have no idea how much their daily life depends on the satellites orbiting above them.

Dr. Pascale Ehrenfreund, former President of the International Space University and International Astronautical Federation, joined ISU's MSS 26' students Darius Dantzler and Nikola Mazzarella for a conversation on the importance of space and why communicating its value to society matters now more than ever.

Space is a long-term investment. But without public awareness, without society's buy-in, the future of human activity in orbit and beyond becomes a much harder sell.

🎓 Congratulations to our MSS and MSc Class of 2025!

On May 15, the Cosmos Auditorium was filled with the people who made this year possible: faculty, staff, families, friends, and an incredible cohort of graduates who received their diplomas and pins on stage.

With guest speakers Eytan Stibbe and Dr. Sian Proctor and heartfelt words from student representatives, it was a ceremony to remember. The celebration moved to Pioneer Hall, but the memories will last a lot longer.

We are so proud of you, MSS25 and MSc25. 👏

🚀👩‍🚀 Last week, ISU students join a private call with NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration astronaut and ISU alumna Jessica Meir, live from the International Space Station!

The students will have the rare opportunity to tour the ISS with Jessica and put their questions directly to her, opening the floor for a conversation with one of our own in orbit, an opportunity that very few people ever get to have.

The astronauts aboard the ISS could call anyone and Jessica chose ISU students.
A huge thank‑you to Jessica for sharing her time and for continuing to inspire our students about what’s possible after ISU.

She even brought the ISU mission patch with her — a small piece of our community now orbiting Earth.

The ISU network reaches further than most. 🌍

🚀 Some things stay with you long after graduation. At ISU, that's by design.

🌍 The people who come to ISU arrive from different countries, different disciplines, different points in their journey.

What they leave with is more than a degree, a network, perspectives they hadn't considered, and the confidence to shape their own path in the space sector. ✨

🎬 Hear it from those who've been there, Eanna Cristin (SSP21, MSS22) and Daniele Dall'Ari (SHSSP22).

🌍 The overview effect doesn't happen by accident. It happens through education.

At the International Space University, we believe that studying space makes you a better thinker about Earth - its climate, its resources, its future. That's not a side effect of what we do. It's central to it.

Happy Earth Day to you and all of our ISU alumni across the world!

🎓Space education is no longer a niche academic pursuit - it relies on an increasingly diverse set of disciplines and skills, strategic importance continues to grow.

From communications and navigation to weather and climate monitoring and more, space is in our lives everyday. Dedicated space‑education programs equip the next generation with the skills to meet space’s next challenges.

🌍 Our ISU alumni continue to make important contributions across their fields, and around the world, showcasing how space‑specific, interdisciplinary education creates an increasingly innovative sector.
