🏆 Last week, at .academy ’s , all four Advance Studies ‘26 (AS26) entrepreneurship teams took to the stage in front of 300+ participants. On-site at the International Space University’s Central Campus in Strasbourg, the day explored how space technologies and the space economy create concrete value for industries, research, health, and society on Earth.

AS26 students pitched their projects, built in just two weeks, spanning agriculture, commerce, research navigation, and regulation.

🌱 TerraX turns satellite data into clear advice for farmers on what to grow, when to plant, and how to manage weather risk.

🛰️ NodeSpace is simplifying satellite operators to spectrum, making the ITU filing process faster and more cost efficient.

👕 Give Me Space is building the world's first curated marketplace for space merchandise, connecting agencies, startups, creators and fans globally.

🔬 Ariadne maps the path from scientific question to launch-ready provider, routing researchers through every door in commercial space research.

Four ideas. Two weeks. This is what NewSpace entrepreneurship looks like at ISU. 🚀

🚀 Over the past two weeks, the International Space University’s Advanced Studies 2026 class were diving into two specialist tracks: Space Policy & NewSpace Entrepreneurship, and Ground Station Software Development & Satellite Operations!

In the Entrepreneurship track, the focus was application from day one. With guest lectures from Prof. Anwar and Mr. Harry Tab Ndip, students tackled real-world challenges and explored how new thinking can drive the sector forward.

Four teams built live projects, all of which pitched at Factory2026!

🛰️ In parallel, the Ground Station track gave students hands-on experience across the complete mission operations lifecycle.

Teams built and operated three platforms, from a web-based ground station and C # operations interface and received live telemetry from in-orbit satellites using SDR and GNU Radio.

🌍 What makes Advanced Studies distinctive is the environment. AS26’ students come from different disciplines and career stages. That mix is deliberate, bringing a variety of perspectives and ideas, reflecting how the space sector actually works.

Space doesn't exist in isolation. And neither should the people working in it. 🌍

To truly unlock the potential of the sector, the space community needs to engage beyond its own walls, with cultural institutions, with society, with people who bring entirely different perspectives to the table.

As Dr. Pascale Ehrenfreund puts it: "You have to work with cultural institutions together."

Communicating the value of space is critical. But too often, it becomes an afterthought. The opportunities that come from broader engagement are ones the sector hasn't even begun to fully explore. 🤝

🛰️ Space is no longer just for space agencies.

On 11 June, the International Space University co-hosts in Strasbourg: a half-day dive into how space technologies are reshaping industry and healthcare.

Barbara Belvisi, CEO of Interstellar Lab, will kickstart the day with opening remarks. This will be followed by an expert roundtable on the low orbit economy, hands-on workshops with NewSpace startups, and a free startup village with 30+ exhibitors.

Competition and collaboration. In space, you need both. 🌍📈

When there’s competition between nations and commercial players it pushes innovation forward and drives new technology. But when the goal is staying on the Moon, reaching Mars, and building something that lasts, no one gets there without working together.

As Dr. Pascale Ehrenfreund puts it: "Competition helps innovation and drives technology."

The Artemis programme and the ambitions beyond it depend on long-term planning and nations complementing each other's capabilities. That balance between competing and cooperating isn't a contradiction. It's the strategy. 🤝

🌌 "We need to encourage new awe and wonder for our humanity."

Space is part of your daily life, whether you know it or not. 🛰️

Yet most people have no idea how much their daily life depends on the satellites orbiting above them.

Dr. Pascale Ehrenfreund, former President of the International Space University and International Astronautical Federation, joined ISU's MSS 26' students Darius Dantzler and Nikola Mazzarella for a conversation on the importance of space and why communicating its value to society matters now more than ever.

Space is a long-term investment. But without public awareness, without society's buy-in, the future of human activity in orbit and beyond becomes a much harder sell.

🎓 Congratulations to our MSS and MSc Class of 2025!

On May 15, the Cosmos Auditorium was filled with the people who made this year possible: faculty, staff, families, friends, and an incredible cohort of graduates who received their diplomas and pins on stage.

With guest speakers Eytan Stibbe and Dr. Sian Proctor and heartfelt words from student representatives, it was a ceremony to remember. The celebration moved to Pioneer Hall, but the memories will last a lot longer.

We are so proud of you, MSS25 and MSc25. 👏
