L’École de design Nantes Atlantique is a private institution for higher education dedicated to design professions, in association with l’Université de Nantes. Founded in 1988 and recognized by the State, the school is a non-profit organization. L’École de design Nantes Atlantique is located in Nantes, the great metropolis of Western France, in the Pays de la Loire region, known for its economic dy

namism, quality of life and support for contemporary creation, and have offshores campuses for postgraduate studies in Sao Paulo (Brazil), Shanghai (China), Pune (India) and Cotonou (Benin). The school offers two well-recognized diplomas:

-The Diplôme de design (Master’s degree in design) certified by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research that leads to the award of the "Grade de Master". It is also registered in the Registre National des Certifications Professionnelles (the French directory for vocational qualifications or RNCP) as a Level 7 Master’s degree. This five-year degree, is divided into two cycles: a three-year undergraduate course taught in French (BDes) organized around 4 specializations (Digital Design, Graphic Design, Space Design & Industrial Design) and a two-year postgraduate course (MDes) available in both French and English organized around socio-economic topics (Care Design, City Design, Digital Design, Food Design, Media Design & International Design Strategy). The curriculum allows students to acquire a first international experience, and the recognition of the degree offers interesting career development prospects in the short and medium term.

-The DN MADE, National Diploma in Fine Arts, Crafts and Design is a state-controlled degree and leads to the award of an Undergraduate Diploma after three years of studies. The DN MADE courses are organized around major and minor mentions and specialities. L'École de design Nantes Atlantique offers 4 DN MADE Programs:
DN MADE Space Design, DN MADE Digital Design, DN MADE Product Design & DN MADE Fashion Design. The first two years are entirely taught in French, and in 3rd year students have the choice to continue in apprenticeship in French, or to study in English in an International Class. - Celebrating youth innovation in the Blue Economy 🇪🇺🌊

Over the past months, L'École de design Nantes Atlantique took part in the closing events of the European project ATLIC Innoblue in Nantes, Pornic and Brussels, alongside partners, institutions, experts and young innovators from across the Atlantic Area.

📘 A key milestone was the presentation by Cassandre Samson of the ATLIC White Paper, Empowering Youth Innovation in the Blue Economy. This publication brings together three years of experimentation, collaboration and collective learning aimed at empowering young people to shape the future of the Blue Economy.

L’École de design Nantes Atlantique launches the MSc Brand Design & Luxury Experience in partnership with the Marie Claire Group!

🇫🇷🇨🇳 From Paris, a symbol of quiet luxury thanks to its unique heritage, to Shanghai, a hub of innovation and emerging consumer trends, students will explore how design can help brands rethink luxury experiences in order to meet new expectations regarding personalisation, technology and sustainability.

Through immersive projects and collaborations with industry experts, this one-year programme, taught in English, will train international professionals to help luxury brands create more enriching, responsible and immersive experiences.

- 🌟 A year later, we look back on Cumulus Nantes 2025, which brought together 500 teachers, students and professionals from all around the world in the fields of , and to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the international Cumulus Association.

💡 On this occasion, Antoinette Lemens, founder of Lemens & Partners and General Delegate of the Association Design Conseil, and Sihem Jouini, associate professor at HEC Paris, shared their views on how designers can help organizations navigate major transitions, from climate change to digital and AI.

Their discussion highlighted the designer's role in questioning assumptions, opening new perspectives, and shaping the next generation of creative leaders, while emphasizing the need to connect practice and research to build the future of design.

🌍 💼 This year was once again marked by innovation, excellence, international openness, and professional development.

It was a year full of projects, encounters, and enriching experiences. Between internships and study semesters abroad, placements in our international studios, and welcoming 200 students from all over the world to Nantes, the school's international outlook once again played a central role in campus life.
Numerous projects were carried out in collaboration with companies and institutions, while the school's workshops (screen printing, woodworking, ceramics, digital fabrication, VR, and many more) came alive through a wide range of hands-on workshops!

🇨🇳 - NACAA, the 1st sino-french design institute, hosted the inaugural edition of NACAATHON, a four-day intensive workshop that brought together more than 70 students to explore as a driver of and .

The event focused on agency creation, strategic problem-solving, and hashtag . The students worked within one of 5 thematic tracks directly inspired by the Design Labs which are structuring teaching, research and partnerships at L'École de design Nantes Atlantique ( , , , & ).

💡 The challenge was to build design agencies from scratch and transform ideas into viable design-led businesses. Each team presented its agency before a panel of CEOs, entrepreneurs, designers, architects, and academic leaders.

🖼️ NACAATHON was accompanied by an hashtag featuring the most recent academic projects. It enabled companies to engage directly with students to forge links between , hashtag and the world of work.
