L’École de design Nantes Atlantique is a private institution for higher education dedicated to design professions, in association with l’Université de Nantes. Founded in 1988 and recognized by the State, the school is a non-profit organization. L’École de design Nantes Atlantique is located in Nantes, the great metropolis of Western France, in the Pays de la Loire region, known for its economic dy

namism, quality of life and support for contemporary creation, and have offshores campuses for postgraduate studies in Sao Paulo (Brazil), Shanghai (China), Pune (India) and Cotonou (Benin). The school offers two well-recognized diplomas:

-The Diplôme de design (Master’s degree in design) certified by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research that leads to the award of the "Grade de Master". It is also registered in the Registre National des Certifications Professionnelles (the French directory for vocational qualifications or RNCP) as a Level 7 Master’s degree. This five-year degree, is divided into two cycles: a three-year undergraduate course taught in French (BDes) organized around 4 specializations (Digital Design, Graphic Design, Space Design & Industrial Design) and a two-year postgraduate course (MDes) available in both French and English organized around socio-economic topics (Care Design, City Design, Digital Design, Food Design, Media Design & International Design Strategy). The curriculum allows students to acquire a first international experience, and the recognition of the degree offers interesting career development prospects in the short and medium term.

-The DN MADE, National Diploma in Fine Arts, Crafts and Design is a state-controlled degree and leads to the award of an Undergraduate Diploma after three years of studies. The DN MADE courses are organized around major and minor mentions and specialities. L'École de design Nantes Atlantique offers 4 DN MADE Programs:
DN MADE Space Design, DN MADE Digital Design, DN MADE Product Design & DN MADE Fashion Design. The first two years are entirely taught in French, and in 3rd year students have the choice to continue in apprenticeship in French, or to study in English in an International Class. Working with classmates from around the world inspired her, from discovering new foods to creating friendships across continents.

- Young international students create innovative solutions for the blue economy sector 🌊

✨ Over 2 intense days at L’École de design Nantes Atlantique and Blue Lab, the ATLIC Youth Summit brought together students, partners and experts from across Europe to share projects, exchange perspectives and explore the future of the .

This event celebrated 3 years of projects developed through ATLIC, a European project designed to empower young people and enabling them to shape a desirable future.

🌎 These projects reflect an approach that is both experimental and socially conscious, at the intersection of design, innovation, and the challenges of the ecological transition.

ATLIC, co-founded by Interreg Atlantic Area, has been a true playground for our students, a space to experiment, collaborate at a European scale and explore how design can drive innovation and support transitions.

🤝 Congratulations to all the students who took part in on this wonderful journey, and a big thank you to all our partners in France, Portugal, Spain, and Ireland, as well as to the teaching staff!

- In April, our school hosted a new international Carrousel 2026 workshop 🌍

This edition brought together an international community of students and faculty from Windesheim University 🇳🇱, Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) 🇨🇦, La Sapienza University of Rome 🇮🇹, alongside our International Bachelor's students 🇫🇷.

🤝 Working in teams, participants took part in one of six workshops that reflect the diversity of contemporary design practices.

💬 From play and interaction to immersive audiovisual creation, human‑centered urban design, bio‑inspired approaches, sustainable spatial transformation, and exhibition scenography, the projects took many forms, including one workshop held directly at the Musée d’Arts de Nantes.

✨ A week dedicated to intercultural exchange and experimentation, exploring different design practices and ways of thinking!

- In April, our school was at Milan Design Week 2026 🇮🇹

🙌 An intense week during which our students truly shined on the international stage with their innovative projects aimed at creating a sustainable and desirable world.

🌊 At the ‘UNFOLD’ exhibition organized by Domus Academy, our Master’s students in Digital Design showcased Karea‑Mareva and went one step further by pitching the project live to an international audience.

🎤 Frédérique Krupa, Director of the school’s Digital design Lab, participated in the symposium to discuss innovation in the blue economy through design.

🏆 Our students’ talent was recognized during the Design Beyond East and West (DBEW) Awards ceremony. Congratulations to our international students who won the Silver Award for Cutis Rana and an Honorable Mention for Aquopia. Developed as part of the Atlic Innoblue program, these projects will be celebrated once again in Seoul.

This week, the ATLIC Youth Summit brings together young people, experts and partners for the final ATLIC dissemination event, marking the culmination of three years of transnational collaboration across the Atlantic Area. Supported by the Interreg Atlantic Area programme, the Summit highlights the key impacts and achievements of this collective journey.

📍 The first day of the Youth Summit took place on April 21 at L'École de design Nantes Atlantique:

👉 Welcome and project exhibitions by the ATLIC youth community
👉 A transnational round table on Blue Economy challenges
👉 Collective writing of the ATLIC Declaration
👉 Île de Nantes exploration & discovery workshops
👉 Presentation and signature of the ATLIC Declaration

🌊 The programme continues today in Saint-Nazaire, at the Blue Lab, with a walk along the Loire, the ATLIC talent contest and the ATLIC awards ceremony.

🔎 Launched to empower young people as active contributors to a more sustainable, innovative and inclusive , ATLIC has created a unique space where education, research, public institutions and industry meet to test ideas, share knowledge and develop concrete responses to coastal and maritime
challenges.

- 2 student projects awarded at DBEW (Design Beyond East and West) Award 2026 in Milan 🇮🇹

🏆 The school is very proud to see its students recognized by this prestigious competition, which honors students from around the world for their innovative solutions in the complex field of !

Cutis Rana and Aquopia were honored this morning in Milan and will be presented in Seoul later this year.

🥈 Silver Winner
Cutis Rana, imagined by Ni Xinghao, Rongwei Yan and Du Wang explores new forms of coexistence between humans and wetland environments through the design of amphibious equipment.

🎖️ Honorable Mention
Aquopia, conceived by Mili Kim and Narosa Long, is a slow transition toward collective resilience through gradual adaptation.

✨ A strong international recognition for innovative projects addressing environmental and territorial challenges.

👏 Congratulations to the students and educators!
