🏛️ Plus de 200 participants se sont réunis le 20 mai dernier au Panthéon à l’occasion de la cérémonie de remise des prix du Concours de Nouvelles Avancées 2026 organisé par le Centre international de langue et culture françaises de l’Institut Polytechnique de Paris.

Pour cette 17e édition consacrée aux « intelligences », 50 textes finalistes ont été sélectionnés parmi les candidatures reçues :

📚 13 nouvelles dans la catégorie Élèves du secondaire,
🎓 15 dans la catégorie Étudiants,
🌍 8 dans la catégorie Francophonies,
🖋️ et 14 dans la catégorie Grand public.

À travers leurs nouvelles, les candidats ont exploré avec créativité les frontières entre sciences, littérature et imagination - illustrant pleinement l’ambition d’IP Paris de former des scientifiques et ingénieurs capables de penser avec les mots autant qu’avec les chiffres.

Cette édition a également été marquée par la présence de l’International Scientific Advisory Board (ISAB) de l’Institut Polytechnique de Paris, dont les membres ont pu découvrir le Panthéon lors d’une visite guidée avant d’assister à l’ouverture de la cérémonie.

📢 On Thursday, June 4, come cheer on the contestants in the 3MT – IP Paris 2026 competition!

Six PhD students from the laboratories of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris will take on the challenge of the 3MT competition:

🟣 presenting their thesis work clearly and engagingly to a non-specialist audience
🟣 in 3 minutes or less and in English!

Each contestant will need to demonstrate their academic skills, their ability to present their topic, and their capacity to communicate the results of their work.

🏅The two candidates who impress the jury will qualify for the inter-university final on June 25 alongside their counterparts from Université Paris-Saclay and Université PSL.
Let’s wish them good luck!

🎤 3 minutes to convince… and make science accessible to everyone!
This year, the Institut Polytechnique de Paris will once again host the finals of the 3-Minute Thesis (3MT®) interuniversity competition on June 25 at Télécom Paris.

The concept? Participating PhD students must present their research in just 3 minutes, in English, to a non-specialist audience. All with clarity, impact, and educational appeal.

đź“… Two key dates to note:

• June 4 (2:00–4:00 p.m.) at Télécom Paris: IP Paris local final, to select the candidates who will represent the institute at the interuniversity final.

• June 25 (2:00–4:00 p.m.) at Télécom Paris: interuniversity final, where IP Paris finalists will compete against their counterparts from Université Paris-Saclay or Université PSL .

🏅 The 2025 edition was marked by a remarkable performance by IP Paris PhD students :

- Sooyong Chae, a PhD student at the Laboratory of Physics of Interfaces and Thin Films (LPICM*), at École Polytechnique, won both the jury prize and the audience prize.

- Ana-Maria Bratu, a PhD student at the École Polytechnique Hydrodynamics Laboratory (LadHyX**), took second place in the competition.

🌍 Launched in 2008 by The University of Queensland, the 3MT® competition is now a global event bringing together more than 900 institutions in 85 countries.
