This book, through the European PROTECT project, explores how archeoseismology applied to architecture can impact seismic risk management. Focusing on Siena's historic centre, it presents new methodologies and findings, offering multidisciplinary insights into its urban and social context and its relationship with earthquakes.

The session at the EAA was a great success. Excellent audience participation and good sharing of archaeological experiences in relation to disasterand earthquakes. The PROTECT project also interested the audience very much!

Dear colleagues,

The EAA is approaching and I would like to share with you the draft of the program of the session #093 entitled "Post-Earthquake Scenarios in the Classical and Medieval Periods. Archaeoseismology as a Tool for Investigation on an Urban and Architectural Scale" .

The session, organised by Andrea Arrighetti, Laura Pecchioli, Judith Thomalsky and Ana Catarina de Freitas Alves Sousa, will be taking place between 2:00 pm and 6:30 pm on the 29th of August, but we don't yet know its precise location.

The discussion will be split in three blocks, with three presentation slots and a coffee break in between.

I hope to see many of you in Rome!

On the train back from a wonderful and very interesting workshop organised by Paolo Forlin, Andrea Augenti e Matthew Johnson at the University of Bologna. The presentation of the PROTECT project was a great success and, thanks to the discussion with many Italian and foreign colleagues, new perspectives and ideas were born.

On 25 and 26 June 2024 the University of Bologna will host the conference ‘Archaeology of disasters. Ecology, materiality, and memory’ organised by Paolo Forlin, Andrea Augenti and Matthew Johnson.

The PROTECT project will participate in the workshop on 26 June at 12.00 a.m. with a speech entitled: The PROTECT project. Preliminary steps towards an operational protocol for the archaeoseismological study of a historic centre.
