Cette première rencontre de la troisième saison des Encres de l’Atlantique réunit Katia Dansoko Touré, Maïram Guissé, Kiyémis et Seynabou Sonko pour une discussion autour de leurs œuvres, animée par Maboula Soumahoro.

Ukrainian composer Volodymyr Zahortsev (1944–2010) was a student of Borys Lyatoshynsky and one of the key figures of the Kyiv avant-garde.

Perhaps the brightest representative of musical structuralism in Ukrainian music, Zahortsev widely used in the 1960s the latest compositional techniques of the time. In the mid-1970s, he moved away from the avant-garde style, then later returned to a more complex musical language.

The Zahortsev Days in Paris continue the spirit of the 2023 Silvestrov Days, organized by the 1991 Project.

🌾 The Reid Hall Caféothèque and garden are currently graced by a new exhibition, « tenderly will I use you, curling grass », by Marie-Noëlle Fontan and curated by Christina Chirouze Montenegro.

Marie-Noëlle Fontan’s feet have walked upon the grasses of the world: she has dedicated her life to traversing the Earth’s diversity, contemplating its landscapes, and observing them actively. Touching them. Carefully selecting, from among the abundance of leaves, flowers, stems, buds, and branches they offer, a collection guided by color, form, and dialogue.

🌿 Where a botanist might see a fungus, a farmer a threat to their crops, she perceives an abstract drawing, a palette of colors, but above all, a unique expression of life. And this life, she views with tenderness, gathering it with great delicacy.

☕️ The Caféothèque is open to Reid Hall cardholders Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

🌊 Les Encres de l'Atlantique seront de retour en 2025 ! Maboula Soumahoro recevra la réalisatrice sénégalaise Katy Lena Ndiaye, pour une projection-débat du documentaire L’argent, la liberté : une histoire du franc CFA, sorti en 2022.

Cette exploration de l'histoire et des implications contemporaines du franc CFA, monnaie utilisée dans 14 pays d'Afrique de l'Ouest, passe par des recherches approfondies et des témoignages d'économistes, de politiciens et d'écrivains.

👉 Le film a été récompensé par une mention spéciale du jury des documentaires longs métrages au FESPACO 2023.

Please join us for a celebration of the arrival of next year’s residents and the accomplishments of the 2023-24 residents: Iranian author Aliyeh Ataei .official.

and the 1991 Project , a non-profit association dedicated to safeguarding and promoting Ukrainian music. Palestinian poet Doha Kahlout and Ugandan dancer Haman Mpadire will join us in September 2024.

The Festival will be an evening of literary readings, dance performances, and a concert with musicians from the 1991 Project.

Co-sponsored by the Columbia Global Paris Center and the Institute for Ideas and Imagination , the Displaced Artists Initiative provides support to artists who have had to leave their countries of origin due to extreme circumstances such as war, natural disasters, or political oppression.
