Hello everyone, sorry for the lack of communication. Recently we have been having a lot of issues with paperwork and getting the room booked. The chess society will be resuming at the MacRobert lobby tomorrow and on Wednesday, from then on it should be at MR265 (macrobert building) every Tuesday and Wednesday during term time beginning (Tuesday the 24th).

We look forward to seeing you all again, both new players and old. And sorry about everything again.

Hi everyone, Tuesday will be the last session of the school year. We no longer have the room booked but would still like to host the AGM for the elections. It will take place at Jake (the president's) at the time during which the session would normally take place.

Chess is back on from tonight at the same place as last semester. MR317 on Tuesday and MR265 on Wednesday in the Macrobert building.

Just to let everyone know, we are in room MR317 (so third floor) on Tuesday sessions and room MR265 (second floor) on Wednesdays. both are from 7pm-10pm.

Hello everyone, sorry for the lack of communication. Recently we have been having some issues with paperwork and getting the room booked. The chess society will be resuming at MR265 (macrobert building) every Tuesday and Wednesday during term time beginning tomorrow (Tuesday the 19th).

There will also be some changes for the upcoming year to how we structure our sessions. The first hour of the Tuesday session will have one committee member or experienced player explicitly at a teaching board so new players can learn 1 to 1 or in a small group.

The first hour of the Wednesday session will be a classical hour, where some boards will be 30+30 with paper to make note of the game as it is played. Of course, the majority of boards will remain free to play however you want and if you want to learn something feel free to ask a committee member or more experienced player at any time during the session.

Join us for the first social of the year: the chess society pub crawl!

For all the Kings and Queens looking to get Mated, we're starting at Triplekirks at 7pm sharp for the first round of bevvys, fianchettoing at The Wild Boar and finishing our development with castling at Slains!
Make sure you're still sharp for the middle game, at O'Neills and Revolution before the grand finale at Archibald Simpsons! An endgame Capablanca would be proud of!
