Congratulations to our new committee members for 2022/23! We are so excited for next year and getting to work with you all.

Huge thank you to all our applicants, and for those who voted.

Thanks to everyone for a great year this year, and for smashing our fundraising target for ! We couldn’t have done it without you!

We with all those graduating good luck! We will miss you, but all the best in your future careers! And for everyone else, we can’t wait to see you next year!!

Have you ever wondered about the physical demand placed on professional dancers?

Ever wondered what it would be like to work with such a unique population group?

For all of you with an interest in the performing arts, this week's episode is for you.

Judith Coe has over 18 years of experience as a physiotherapist working across a wide range of environments from the NHS to performance sport and the performing arts. She currently holds the position of teaching fellow at University of Birmingham and is a contract physiotherapist for the Royal Opera House, Elmhurst Ballet School, and Birmingham Royal Ballet.

In this episode Judith chats about:

How she got involved in working within the performing arts.

How her approach differed from her previous experience in performance sport.

The demands faced by performers.

Integrating her rehabilitation with the company director and wider multidisciplinary team.

If you have answered yes to any of these then this week's episode with Mike Stewart is for you!

Mike is a physiotherapist, researcher and visiting university lecturer with over twenty years' experience of helping people to overcome pain. Mike is a dedicated practice-based educator who is passionate about providing evidence-based education to a wide variety of health professionals. He teaches across elite sports and is an advisor on pain management to the International Olympic Committee. Mike has a Master's degree in Education and is planning a PhD focusing on pain and communication. His published work has received international praise from the leading names in neuroscience.

In this episode Mike talks about:

Creating patient buy-in.

Addressing patient beliefs.

Discussing patient's pain.

We are excited to announce our very first social event of the semester!

Save the date in your diaries: Friday the 4th of March at Triple kirks 🍻

We will be organising a Quiz Night to fundraise money for our chosen charity, the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH).

There will be quizzes, games and a raffle with exciting prizes to win! Bring along your friends and flatmates if you want 😊

The price to attend the event is set at £5, of which £4 will go straight to charity.

The time will be confirmed in a later post, but keep the evening free! This will be so much fun! Get clued up on your general knowledge 🧠
