Gray’s School of Art Master’s Degree Show 2026 is now open, bringing together work by 27 graduating and continuing postgraduate artists and designers.

Part one shares catalogue images from 19 of the artists and designers taking part. Their practices move through painting, drawing, printmaking, fashion and textiles, ceramics, sculpture, installation, moving image, publication design, radio, soft robotics and technology. They work with reclaimed, natural, digital and living materials.

The work explores memory, identity, care, perception, place and community. It asks how materials can be transformed, how ecological responsibility can shape making and how technology changes the ways we see, listen and create.

These catalogue images propose an introduction to what visitors will encounter throughout the show. Read the full catalogue through the link in our bio to learn more about each practice, then experience, the scale, material detail and relationships between the works in person.

Featuring work by Dawn-Marie Farmer, Nicole Hopley, Adulphina Imuede, Bronwyn Mackenzie, Nicole Mackintosh, Sophie Mancellon, Gabby Morris, Diana P. Ansino, Jakob Rusin, Hannah Smith, Anastasiia Zyrianova, Rowan Flint, Paul Irvine, Lara Stewart, Lauren Strachan, Jo Middelthon, Lesley Dyker, Jacquie Shortland and Erin Williams.

Also showing alongside the Master’s Degree Show is Curtain Call, the final exhibition by Gray’s 2025 to 2026 Graduates in Residence on the top floor.

The final call is here.

Earlier this year, The Midst presented Gray’s 2025 to 2026 Graduates in Residence midway through their residency. Ideas that had been lost amid assessments and deadlines were being revisited, with time ahead to experiment, refine their processes and build confidence.

Now, after 12 months of new experiences, opportunities, artistic discussion, learning and unlearning, the GiRs take their final bow with Curtain Call.

Brought together through a team effort, Curtain Call brings individual practices into a shared exhibition spanning digital design, photography, oil painting and installation. There is texture, colour and sound, with audiences invited to become part of their final show.

Open Day, you were busy 👋

Today was all about opening up Gray’s, meeting future students and showing what studying here can look like.

From fine art, design and making to fashion, photography, film, media and journalism, there was a lot happening across the School. Studios were open, workshops were running, portfolios were being discussed and there were plenty of conversations with the people who actually study and teach here.

Different subjects. Different spaces. One very creative community.

Thanks to everyone who came along and spent part of the day with us 🤍

Missed this one? 👀 Our next Open Day is 31 October.

Come see Gray’s for yourself 🎃

What happens when creative practice shapes how questions are asked, ideas are tested and knowledge is shared?

SPARK*, led by Co Directors Josie Steed and Maria Sanchez, brought researchers and PhD students from across RGU together at Aberdeen Art Gallery for its first Summer School.

The two days explored practice based and practice led research, including practice as method, writing alongside making, research portfolios, publishing, peer review and the different ways research can be communicated clearly.

Participant feedback returned to the value of meeting others working through similar questions. People appreciated learning from researchers at different stages, unpacking complex ideas together and having time to reflect on their own practice.

Thank you to Grant Davidson, Dan Holbrow, Laura Leuzzi, Peter Chalmers, Lyndsey Gilmour and Jen Clarke for contributing, to everyone who brought their questions and experiences, and to Aberdeen Art Gallery for hosting.

Could Gray’s be the place where your ideas take shape?

Join our first RGU’s Undergraduate Open Day this Wednesday and experience the spaces where students create, experiment and develop their practice.

Explore the studios, workshops, photography and media facilities used across our creative courses. See what learning through creating, thinking, making and doing looks like in practice, meet the people who could teach you and ask current students what studying here is really like.

Recent results reflect the experience students have here. Gray’s is currently ranked first in Scotland for teaching quality in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2026. The results offer reassurance, but choosing where to study is personal. Open Day gives you the chance to experience the community for yourself, ask the questions that matter to you and imagine what you could create here.

Could art school be for me? 🎨

A chance to try a creative process can open up a much bigger conversation.

Advanced Higher pupils at Inverness Royal Academy spent today exploring screen printing with staff from Gray’s and talking about portfolios, applications and what studying at art school could look like.

That conversation continues tomorrow with the pop up talk, Why go to Art School?

Thank you to Inverness Royal Academy for the warm welcome and for sharing these moments. Full details are in their original post below 👇

A real pleasure to visit Denis Law Legacy Trust - Streetsport at to hear about the new youth hub facilities and present local participant Marcus Crooks with a Motion certificate celebrating his success designing ’s Scottish football top.

His shirt celebrated the passion Scotland has for its environment, its people and for sport, pinpointing Denis Law as an example of Scottish pride and highlighting Scottish pride as also being tied to a shared history and identity & he created it in collaboration with two students at Robert Gordon University Gray's School of Art Aberdeen.

I saw for myself the outstanding work and fun being had at the Court and surrounding facilities. Really enjoyed chatting with CEO Mark Williams and his team.
