The Department of Theatre, Film and Television Studies are currently advertising an AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Partnership studentship with the National Botanic Garden of Wales. The application deadline is 30th May 2025.

This AHRC funded PhD scholarship is a unique opportunity for a theatre or performance maker to develop an innovative practice-based project focused on developing public performance interventions at National Botanic Garden of Wales (NBGW). The project will develop performance interventions that enhance visitor engagement with the ecology of the Waun Las Nature Reserve and the species-level conservation work of the living collections, seed bank, and herbarium at NBGW.

We are pleased to announce we have added 5 new projects to the CMT Project Page. These 5 artists are alumni and current postgraduate students of the School of Art and Theatre Film & TV who work in a broad range of disciplines and media. We believe that each project contributes to our continued questioning around "what is material thinking?”, how new modes of representation might bring about a greater awareness of human and non-human entanglements, and how material can matter in a range of socio-cultural and eco-political contexts.

The Centre for Material Thinking supports individual research and practice projects by staff, alumni and current students working across a broad range of creative and scholarly disciplines. We support projects that relate to the interests at the core of CMT; how new modes of representation might bri...
