The AND archives project!

Over the past four months, a team of six Archive Masters students at Aberystwyth University has examined and organised more than 25 large boxes of materials relating to the making of the Anglo-Norman Dictionary - some dating back to the 1940s.

Alongside establishing an organised archive, they also produced a fully searchable catalogue of the collection - illustrating and revealing eight decades of writing the AND.

Starting next week they will document their progress in a series of blogposts.

At the end of this week we say goodbye to Delphine Demelas, who takes up a lectureship in Digital Humanities at the University Southampton. Delphine joined the Anglo-Norman Dictionary project as a research assistant in 2020 and was one of the editors to work on the Second Edition of the letters S and T.

We are grateful for the lexicographical contributions she made over these last 5 years, and wish her the best of luck in her new and exciting position!

Delphine Demelas is currently an Editor for the online Anglo-Norman Dictionary project at Aberystwyth University, a vital digital resource for studying medieval French, medieval Francophonie and the evolution of English. In this role since 2020, she actively contributes to the dictionary’s digita...
