Joanna McCurry Piano Tuition & Events - Alness Piano lessons in Alness (Ross-Shire) I work as a secondary school teacher and I have been educated according to the ABRSM syllabus.

I am a teacher based in the Alness area (Scottish Highlands) with thirty two years experience of piano performance and thirteen years experience teaching adults and children. I have a PGDE in Music from Aberdeen University and a BA (Hons) degree in Music from The Open University and Trinity Laban Conservatoire. I specialise in piano and have qualifications in voice. I have enjoyed performing in mu

sic festivals and at concerts where I have received certificates of achievement. I have a passion for teaching and enjoy the rewarding experience of listening to my pupils perform. I will be teaching in line with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) syllabus Grades 1 to 5 and I am happy to teach people who would only like to play for enjoyment. I am able to prepare pupils for ABRSM practical and theory exams. I will be teaching beginners and intermediates from 7 years of age. My lesson plans will include:

The workings of a piano
Practical work
Learning scales
Theory
Sight Reading


I am a member of the PVG scheme and registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland and I conform to the guidelines of the Musicians Union and NASUWT- The Teacherd Union. My main aim is to teach the piano in a way which is fun and enjoyable, with progression and to be able to share my passion for music with others. Lessons are available for children only from Monday to Friday daily on a 30 minute basis from 6pm to 8pm. Just back from holidays and delighted to have completed my music degree at a 2.1 with honours! So relieved that the hard work has paid off and looking forward to starting a PGDE at Aberdeen University next month 🎓📜💖

What a superb evening at Holburn West last night. Many thanks to all who performed.
This morning we start with Grades 1-4, move on to Grades 5-6 in the afternoon followed by a handful of duets. The evening starts with the Piano Open and the Concerto Class ends the day with a flourish. Audience members welcome to support. Photography: R.Geraldine McClure

There is no doubt about it, the 2023 MiniFests are going ahead. There are insufficient volunteers willing to support all sections, but where there is a will there is a MiniFest way.
