Belfast Met is the largest further and Higher Education College in Northern Ireland and one of the largest in the UK. We have developed a dynamic new curriculum which mirrors the priority growth areas identified for Northern Ireland as this is where future jobs will be created. Through our partnerships with industry, we constantly adapt our curriculum to meet the skill demands of our economy. We p

rovide a unique breadth of education and training at every level and have designed a portfolio of courses to address a variety of skill needs – from apprenticeship and Level 1 courses, to those undertaking degrees and post-graduate study. Coupled with this is our commitment to ensuring that our students have access to opportunities which will enhance their employability and job-ready skills. Our focus for the future is to support the development of Belfast by providing education, training and skills development to enhance individual, community and economic prosperity. Over the next three years we will sustain and improve our responsiveness to learners, employers and communities. The College has already built an excellent reputation with employers for offering relevant, high quality learning. We will build on this by focusing on developing long-term mutually beneficial partnerships and becoming recognised as an expert in key and emerging growth areas. Our Level 2 Counselling students recently took part in a valuable CPD and industry engagement session, delivered by RNIB 👏
The Awareness to Action – Understanding Sight Loss workshop gave students the opportunity to hear directly from individuals with lived experience, helping to deepen their understanding of the emotional and practical realities of sight loss.
This was a fantastic opportunity for students to:
• Build their knowledge of inclusive practice
• Develop communication skills to support those with sight loss
• Explore real-world applications relevant to their future careers
The group were incredibly engaged throughout—asking thoughtful questions and showing a real commitment to inclusive, person-centred practice.

Applications for Further Education Student Finance for the academic year beginning September 2026 are open.

Students can apply online through the FE student finance portal until 31 October 2026: https://feportal.eani.org.uk/

Students aged 19 or over, and studying a full or part time Level 1, 2 or 3 course at a Further Education College, may be entitled to financial support under the Further Education Grants system, administered in Northern Ireland by the Education Authority on behalf of the Department for the Economy.

Scholarship opportunity now open! ✨

The JP McManus All Ireland Scholarship is open for 2026 applications – offering £5,850 per year to support students throughout their university journey.

Each year, 25 scholarships are awarded, including six for Level 3 Extended Diploma students across Further Education Colleges.

Last year, Belfast Met’s Katie McClean achieved this scholarship -after earning an A* in her Level 3 Extended Diploma, Katie is now progressing towards her dream career in Social Work 💫
