“Of the concise creeds whose beginnings and endings are illumined in its beauty, and whose conciseness and marvels contained an enchanting exposition, is the work of the vast ocean and the eminent scholar, Abu Ja’far al-Tahawi, may Allah have mercy upon him.  Owing to its immense benefits and delightful wording, people were passionate about reading and memorising it”.

Abu Hafs Siraj al-Din Ghaznawi, rahimahullah.

This summer intensive course will be based on the study of Al-Aqidah Al-Tahawiyah (The Creed of Imam al-Tahawi), a fundamental beginners-level text in understanding belief in Allah, His attributes and what it means to know Him (ﷻ) from within Sunni tradition.

Teachings will be applied practically to help students understand what it means to be Muslim and address contemporary belief questions. With the intention to help develop understandings around what it means to live a life of faith and how we can strive to develop a relationship with the Lord of the Worlds.

Join us this Sunday for a gathering about the lives and lessons from the Women Around the Messenger ﷺ with Ustadha Dr. Hafza Iqbal. In centring our connection to RasoolAllah ﷺ in times of spiritual darkness, we hope to create a study space for reflection and sisterhood.

This month we will be discussing the Mother of the Believers Sayyidah Hafsah (Salam Alayha), and Umm Abiha (the Mother of her father) Sayyidah Fatima Al-Zahra (Salam Alayha).

On the authority of Ibn ‘Abbas, the Prophet ﷺ said:

“Allah Almighty has not preserved His religion so we can be entertained by it. Allah Almighty has preserved the religion [in the example of the companions] so we can learn and be amongst the people who cultivate the qualities within us that allow us to be intimate with Him. Each of the companions was unique, each of them different from each other. And from their lives we learn that there is a portion of intimacy with Allah for all of us- if we are willing to purify ourselves to experience it.”

By the dawn, and the ten nights, and the even and the odd, and the night when it passes! Is all this ˹not˺ a sufficient oath for those who have sense?
~ Surah Al-Fajr, Ayat 1-5

Shaykh Sayyid Dr. Muhammad Bin Yahya Al Husayni An-Ninowy notes that it is the belief of some scholars that the ten days mentioned in this surah are in reference to the first ten days of Dhu’l Hijjah.
