Members of the Leadership team of AMEN (Anglican Minority Ethnic Network) visited Queen’s today to learn about the Foundation's multifaceted work with ordinands from a variety of ethnic backgrounds and to explore collaborations.

Rev Eileen Harrop (Chair of AMEN), John Tasker (Chair of Advocacy Committee), and Rev’d Dr Modupe Adeoye (Advocacy Officer), met through the day with the Principal Rt Rev Anne Holinghurst, the Postdoctoral Research Associate, Dr Mabel Alkali, the tutor for the Centre for Black Theology Dr Munyurangabo Benda, the Tutor for Anglican Admissions Rev Pat Lenton de Dickin, and with students from Queen's Asian community who organise the Asian Theology Forum.

Collaborations explored included new opportunities with the Racial Justice Unit, our new training course for Anglican Overseas Clergy, and other conference and seminar initiatives to enrich, equip and prepare ordinands and ordained people in the Church of England.

We are delighted to share that Queen's was awarded a Science for Seminaries grant for an innovative project: 'Neurodivergence, Psychology, and Intersectionality for Ministry', led by tutor Revd Dr Allison Fenton.

Thanks to the generosity of ECLAS and the John Templeton Foundation, this project will examine how churches can become more inclusive environments for people with neurodivergences. The initiative will deliver a range of practical outcomes, including research-informed resources for churches, new learning sessions for theology students, and the creation of a dedicated MA module.

The Centre for Black Theology, in partnership with Ecowomanist CIRCLE, presents 'Green Jesus! Faith, Leadership & Ecojustice’.

This conference is a fantastic opportunity to network and meet international scholars, academics, and church leaders to consider strategies for responding to the climate crisis.

The selfie that tells many stories

As this week marked the end of the academic year for most of our students, this impromptu selfie tells the story of the goodbyes, hugs and joy shared by those coming to the end of their time at theological college, where they have trained for ministry.

These radiant smiles paint a picture of what it feels like to train in a supportive environment where people come from different backgrounds and church traditions; where no one is expected to fit a single mould, and where we learn from one another as God shapes and forms us.

One of many photos taken by groups of leavers this week, this selfie also tells the story of strangers from the Methodist Church, the Church of England, and other denominations becoming lifelong friends, building bonds and support networks that will continue as they go on to serve God in many different contexts.

🐁Who let the mice out?

This week, our Track 1 leavers came bearing gifts for the staff team at Queen’s. Alongside bags full of goodies, they thoughtfully created the most adorable paper church mice using carefully recycled books.

A creative and much-appreciated reminder of the warmth, generosity, and community spirit that make Queen’s so special.

Rev Dr Stephen Jennings, Queen’s Honorary Research Fellow, has enjoyed his first weeks whilst on study leave from his ministerial duties in Jamaica. He joined tutors Dulcie Dixon McKenzie, Rachel Starr, and Ministerial Formation students for the last session of the Introduction to Black Theology module. Students enjoyed hearing about Caribbean theology as significant to the discourse of Black theology globally, and about Caribbean self-determination in spite of colonial legacies.
