Our Level 3 Extended Performing and Production Arts students have been working extremely hard since September putting together a moving and thought-provoking performance of the play “SAND” by Alex McSweeney.

Our students have been working with the Charity to honour the true stories of those who fought in the Aden conflict.

We are pleased to share that you can come to see the performance, here is everything you need to know:

⭐️ T-LEVEL WEEK ⭐️

To celebrate T Level Week, our first-year T Level Broadcast and Content Creation students produced an exciting 20-minute live broadcast titled “On the Spot.”

The concept challenged our presenters to think on their feet, with the director giving them their topics just 10 seconds before going live on air! 🎤📺

We are incredibly proud of how professionally all our students performed today. They demonstrated excellent teamwork, communication, creativity and problem-solving skills, particularly when faced with unexpected technical difficulties during the broadcast.

What impressed us most was their ability to remain composed, adapt to challenges and work collaboratively in a real-world broadcast production environment.

This is what T Level education is all about. Developing industry-ready skills through authentic, hands-on experiences.

What an exciting private view celebrating the work of Brett Aspinall and James Douglas, bringing together two fascinating artistic explorations of our coastline and the changing environment.

Through photography, screenprinting, pastel and charcoal, both artists invite us to look closer at the Fylde Coast. From Brett’s The Coastal Squeeze, Coastal Armouring and Silt series, exploring sea defences, sediment and the subtle changes caused by rising sea levels, to James’s large-format drawings examining how coastal vegetation acts as a ‘soft’ barrier against erosion through light and shade.

These thought-provoking works remind us how art can capture the almost imperceptible changes happening around us and challenge us to see familiar landscapes differently.

A huge thank you to Brett and James for sharing their work, and to everyone who joined us for such an exciting private view! 👏

Yesterday our Level 3 Extended Diploma Performing Arts students had a visit from the team at Legasee Educational Trust along with Private Danny Parsonage to talk about his time in the Aden Emergency.

Danny was just 18 when he was shot serving with the Kings Own Royal Border Regiment but fortunately his own belt buckle saved him from serious injury.

As part of their work experience our Performing Arts students are working on performing the play “SAND” by Alex McSweeney to honour the stories of those who served in the Aden Emergency.

You will be able to watch the performance on Wednesday 2nd December at the University Centre Campus, FY1 4ES!

⭐️ YR 10 EXPERIENCES ⭐️

Yr 10 students from local schools have been completing work experience in our industry equipped broadcast studio. Acting as media producers and presenter they have produced a YouTube style production called “The Couch”.

It is a great opportunity for them to sample different industry job roles and be mentored by tutors with industry professional experience.

Lots of fun and highly rewarding. ⭐️
