We're really proud of Creative and Digital Media student, Navannah, who has secured a job on Britain's Got Talent after completing a successful work experience placement. πŸ‘πŸŽ‰

Navannah secured the job after reaching out to the production company behind her favourite show. 🀩

Having grown up watching Britain’s Got Talent, Navannah was given a contact at FremantleHQ, the production company behind Britain’s Got Talent, by her dad’s friend and took a chance after deciding she wanted to go into the film and TV industry and initially secured five days' work experience. πŸŽ‰

After impressing on her work experience placement, Navannah was offered the opportunity to be runner backstage on a temporary basis for the live Saturday shows, which she started this weekend. πŸ‘πŸŽ‰

We were delighted to welcome Peter Swallow, MP for Bracknell, Crowthorne, Sandhurst and Whitegrove to Bracknell and Wokingham College today to meet with Sarah Price, Psychology Teacher and Chair of MindGreen and Pete Reynolds, Chief Marketing Officer, Activate Learning, to learn about MindGreen πŸ’š

MindGreen is Activate Learning's wellbeing and inclusion fund πŸ’š

Peter Swallow MP originally met Sarah and Pete at the Association of College's National Beacon Awards ceremony, which Activate Learning's MindGreen was a finalist for the mental health category πŸ†

During the visit, Sarah talked about how MindGreen also helps young people, particularly those from poor socioeconomic backgrounds, with SEND and social anxiety to get involved in volunteering through taking part in a MindGreen event, such as our recent cycle challengeπŸš΄β€β™‚οΈβœ¨

Sarah and Pete also spoke about how through being involved with MindGreen, young people can:

πŸ’š Raise money for student and staff enrichment
🧠 Take an active role in mental health
🌟Use their skills for good
🎀 Become youth ambassadors
πŸ”¬ Be involved in research.

Peter Swallow MP was enthusiastic about empowering young people and how MindGreen fits in with many policies including the community cohesion, Whitepaper for schools, NHS reform, and projects that the Education Select Committee and Health Select Committee πŸ“šπŸ₯ are collaborating on.πŸ“„

Sarah and Pete also spoke about how MindGreen is working with the AoC as part of their Lead the Change Fund

✨ MindGreen are thrilled to have discussed the opportunity of being invited to Parliament in the future! πŸ›οΈ

πŸ§ͺπŸ”¬ Our Laboratory Science T Level students from Reading College and Bracknell and Wokingham College recently visited Bayer to undertake a practical session in the Training Lab as part of their Science Project provided by Bayer πŸ‘

Students took part in a practical experiment, Gene Editing Model Investigation 🧬, designed to develop hands-on laboratory skills and deepen their understanding of how gene editing works through educational model experiments.

During the session, students:
πŸ“ Identified the aim of the investigation and wrote hypotheses
βš—οΈ Planned experiments, including independent, dependent and controlled variables
🧫 Carried out practical work safely following laboratory protocols
πŸ“Š Recorded observations and results using tables, diagrams and photographs.

This exciting project has enabled students to gain up to 105 hours towards the required 315 hours needed to achieve their T Level programme across two academic years πŸŽ“πŸ™Œ

A huge thank you to Bayer for supporting our students with this valuable industry experience πŸ’™
