Lynne Kiesling (Northwestern University, Dpt. of Economics) will be coming to the University to give a talk on the regulation of public utilities (electricity) in the US.

We are organising a lunchtime seminar on Friday the 27th of February at 11:30 hrs (MB1).

You may want to check her profile (below) and the content of her blog on questions related to oil, energy and the regulation of public utilities: http://knowledgeproblem.com/ .

She is an expert in this field and of course it would be very good to have you all attending the seminar. She will welcome your questions at the end of the event and you can use the information given in the talk in your essays (for those studying Regulation and Privatisation).

The seminar will be followed by a light lunch and refreshments.

Everyone is welcome, and remember there is a seminar tomorrow in AdRB1!

Hey guys, hope everyone had a great time at the meet and greet yesterday at the OTM. We had a economics themed pub quiz with £20 to be won. Congratulations to the winners and we will post up pictures very soon! Attached is an article about record low UK inflation. We have a question for you guys, if you were the chairman at The Bank of England, what policy tools would you use to control low inflation? Have fun reading and comment your answers below!

The rate of UK Consumer Prices Index inflation dropped to 0.3% in January, its lowest on record, as motor fuel prices continued to fall.
