Freshwater surveys back when it wasn't raining! The Land & Wildlife students have been spending time surveying freshwater systems, including the pond at Horticulture. Using the National Pond Survey methods, students get to grips with the survey proforma and the logistics of surveying in awkward areas.

Management of pioneer species and invasive species within the landscape is a task every warden and ranger tackles with their volunteers. We spent a day assisting the Haldon Forest Park - Forestry England rangers Harry and Hazel removing Silver Birch and Rhododendron. Thanks for the opportunity guys, it was great fun even though we got soaked!
