It's week one of the PGCE course - but you wont find them in the Faculty! 🤔

For the first week of the PGCE, our students spend a week in a primary school, typically one where they already live 🗺️

We do this for several reasons. It is not compulsory for an applicant to have spent time in a school prior to their application (although we do find it helps candidates with their personal statements and interviews). This week ensures all of our students have some school experience, and gives them something to reflect upon and discuss during their first week in Faculty. 💬

It also lets our students see how teachers and schools manage that crucial first week of term - how do they set expectations for their class and create routine after six weeks of summer 🎒

For our Secondary students, it also gives them an insight into how Primary schools approach their particular subject, and what skills or knowledge level they can expect of their Year 7s ✍️

Good luck to all of our PGCE students this week, we'll see you in a few days!

In September 2027, you could join us too!

Applications for 2027 entry open on Tuesday 6th October.

Our PGCE courses include:
🧸 Early Years Primary
🚸 General Primary
🧬 Biology
🧪 Chemistry
🔨 Design & Technology
📚️ English
🌍️ Geography
📜 History
🏛️ Latin with Classics

Happy A-Level Results Day! Waiting on results and have a conditional offer from the University of Cambridge? 🎓️

1️⃣ If you’ve met or exceeded all the conditions of your offer
Congratulations! In most cases you won’t need to do anything.
We will be made aware of your results directly via UCAS, and your place will be confirmed. Your status will updated on UCAS Hub and you’ll soon receive an email with further details.
If we don’t receive your results directly via UCAS, then your Cambridge College should inform you where to send your results.
Please do not call us for updates on your application.

2️⃣ If you haven’t quite met the offer
We'll need to know exactly how close you were to meeting your offer, as UCAS only provide us with your examination grades. Please send the relevant College details of your performance as soon as possible. This should be in the form of a scanned copy of your statement of results for each examination.
There may be a few spaces available at one of our colleges, depending on the number of students who have met their offers.
Please be patient and do not call the College or University for updates on your application. Your College will contact you as soon as possible and you can check the status of your application on UCAS Hub. The Hub will be updated once a final decision is made.

3️⃣ If your grades are substantially lower than those required by your offer
Unless there are special circumstances, your application to Cambridge will have been unsuccessful. Hopefully, you have made the grades for your insurance offer.
Your status will be updated on UCAS Hub so that you can take up your insurance place or enter Clearing. We don't enter Clearing, so there will be no course vacancies at the University through Clearing.

4️⃣ If you are missing some results
Sometimes there are processing problems and your Cambridge College may already be aware that you’re missing some results.
Please contact your Cambridge College as soon as you receive your missing results.

It's too quiet in here!👂️

August is a time in the Faculty for reflection and transitioning from one academic year to the next. Our staff are still beavering away behind the scenes preparing for the year ahead 🦫

While the peace is lovely, we can't wait to have our students back in the Autumn and return to the hustle and bustle of term time! ❤️

We hope you're staying cool out there... 😎

Did you know that Cambridge previously held the record for the hottest temperature recorded in the UK? 🌡️

A scorching 38.7°C was recorded at the Cambridge University Botanic Garden (just a 15 minute walk from the Faculty) on 25th July 2019 🔥

This record was surpassed by Coningsby in Lincolnshire in 2022 ☀️

Luckily our Faculty garden offers some nice shady green spots for students to enjoy when the mercury rises - or when they just need a break from their studies! 📚️

Here is a shot from our Faculty garden party back in 2024 🍹
