We are excited to announce that on Saturday 5th September, 11am-2pm, the Polar Museum will be hosting a Repair Cafe!

Bring along your broken item and an experienced volunteer repairer will help you fix it – or at least have a good try! We can tackle a wide variety of repairs including kitchenware, mechanical items, toys, clothes, textiles, jewellery and other items. All repairs are free of charge, but the museum and Cambridge Carbon Footprint welcome donations.

For more information and to book a repair slot, please visit our Repair Café page here: https://restarters.net/party/view/21481. Repair Cafe attendees will have the chance to sign up for free repair-themed museum tours on the day.

This event is organised in partnership with Cambridge Carbon Footprint.

Good hygiene helps children to live a happier and healthier life. It also helps to reduce the risk of illness, build self-esteem and teach life skills.

Children like to copy. So, if they see you washing your hands, and brushing your teeth, they'll be more likely to do it from an early age. It's important that children learn the importance of good hygiene habits. But some children may become anxious about keeping clean. Try to reassure them and explain what things they can do to keep them safe from germs.

For advice on good hygiene habits, visit - https://www.cambspborochildrenshealth.nhs.uk/child-development-and-growing-up/hygiene/

The new school year is the perfect opportunity to focus on road safety and make sure your children know how to cross the road safely.
At school drop-off and pick-up times, roads can be especially busy. Not only does this make crossing more difficult it can also be really distracting and children may not remember their road safety rules, especially if they’re excited or spot a friend across the road.
Fortunately, there are plenty of things you can do to help keep them safe. Visit the road safety hub for tips and free activity sheets for children: https://capt.org.uk/csw-road-safety/
