Homerton College, Cambridge The official page for Homerton College, University of Cambridge. A page for our alumni, students, staff, and fans from around the world!

Homerton has one of the most unusual and fascinating histories of all the Cambridge Colleges. Its first premises were acquired in London in 1768 – making 2018 the 250th anniversary of Homerton’s foundation – although its origins go back to the late seventeenth century. In that time Homerton has educated alumni of considerable influence; including prominent dissenting thinkers, educationalists, pol

iticians, and missionary explorers. We have always had strong ties to public service as well as academia. With around 600 undergraduates, 800 graduates, and 90 Fellows, it is now the largest College in terms of student numbers in Cambridge. You can also follow us on twitter:

Homerton College wishes to express its support for Lord Woolley. Since his appointment in 2021, Lord Woolley has provided leadership to the College during a period of significant change and development. His commitment to widening participation, academic excellence and an inclusive College community reflects values that are central to Homerton's mission.

Lord Woolley's appointment as Principal followed the College's established governance and appointment processes, and he continues to serve with the confidence and support of the College's leadership and Governing Body.

We recognise the personal toll of recent weeks following the death of Professor Jason Arday, whom Lord Woolley supported in the midst of relentless media coverage. We are also aware that recent public discussion has placed both professional and personal pressures on Lord Woolley. As a College, we remain committed to supporting him in his role and to ensuring that our community is treated with fairness, respect and dignity.

Homerton College remains proud of its long-standing commitment to academic excellence, openness and opportunity. We will continue to focus on our core purpose of education, research and service, and on fostering a community in which people from all backgrounds can thrive.

£176 billion is pouring into Cambridge's tech ecosystem. The question now is who leads it.

This November, Homerton is proud to launch two executive leadership programmes with Ascension X, co-founded by our Associate Fellows Olu Orugboh and Abhi Naha.

It is the next chapter in a relationship that began back in 2023, worked on together with our Homerton Changemakers programme.

🔹 Accelerated Digital Innovation — 6 weeks, for Heads of Innovation, Tech and Product

🔹 Equity Reimagined — 7 weeks, for HR, People Leadership and C suite leaders

Enrolment opens during Cambridge Tech Week, 14 to 18 September, closing with an in person day here at Homerton.

"What decides whether this money lands well is leadership," says Ascension X co founder Olu Orugboh.

Want a taste of it first? Join us and Homerton Changemakers for "Inclusive Innovation is the New Competitive Advantage" on Tuesday 15 September, 9.30am to 12pm, here at Homerton.

Huge congratulations to Homerton students Kam Marashi and Grace Whittaker, who this week won the 11th HSF Kramer-NLU Delhi International Negotiation Competition - one of the world’s most prestigious commercial negotiation competitions! 🏆

The pair first competed against 64 teams from the other Cambridge colleges across 6 rounds of negotiation to qualify, before heading to New Delhi, India, where they competed against international teams across a further 5 rounds.

We were delighted to provide partial funding to help Kam and Grace attend the competition, and we couldn’t be prouder of their incredible achievement. 🎉

Congratulations, Kam and Grace! 👏

“A selfless and gentle soul, he tirelessly uplifted others through his words and actions”.

On Monday, vigils were held in both London and Cambridge in memory of Professor Jason Arday, organised by Stand Up to Racism.

Many members of the Homerton community were present at both vigils to pay their respects to their friend, colleague, and mentor, with Homerton Principal Lord Simon Woolley speaking to the tens of thousands that gathered in Trafalgar Square, London.

Lord Woolley gave a powerful and emotional speech in which he described his friend as a “wonderful man”. Speaking alongside him were other prominent figures and personal friends of Jason, including Bell Ribeiro-Addy MP, Diane Abbott MP, and Windrush campaigner Professor Patrick Vernon.

Floral tributes have been placed by staff and students outside Cambridge’s Senate House in memory of Jason Arday, following his tragic passing.

The tributes reflect the sadness felt across our community as colleagues and students come together to remember Jason.

Vigils will be held this evening across Cambridge to honour a much-loved mentor, colleague, and friend.
