Congratulations to incoming Bye-Fellow Dr Jon Roozenbeek (picture 1) and current Postdoctoral Research Associate Dr Stefano Racioppi (picture 2), who have recently been awarded coveted Starting Grants from the European Research Council. 🎉

Out of over 400 recipients across Europe, Dr Roozenbeek and Dr Racioppi are two of the three Cambridge University researchers to have received a grant this year.

These grants will support Dr Roozenbeek's research into digital misinformation and Dr Racioppi's research into how extreme pressures transform the chemical behaviour of elements.

Jaeyen Lian graduated this summer with a BA in Law, ranking 28th out of his cohort in his final year. Alongside his degree, Jaeyen spent many hours in rehearsals putting his heart and soul into the student theatre scene in Cambridge.

"I am proud to say that I achieved the degree results I had hoped for without compromising on my passions outside of Law. As well as singing tenor as a choral scholar in the Trinity Hall Chapel Choir, I performed in 30 theatrical productions and directed two musicals with the Trinity Hall Music Society."🎭🎶

Jaeyen is spending this summer taking these passions up to Edinburgh, performing in several productions at the Edinburgh Fringe!

"I will certainly miss the last three years. I cannot wait to see what the future holds."🎉

It has been wonderful to host over 30 students at Trinity Hall this week, as they took part in maths and science workshops as part of the STEM SMART residential programme. 📐🥽 🚀

The programme (run by the University and Isaac Physics) provides Year 12 to Year 13 students who are considering applying to STEM subjects at university, with free teaching, tutoring and support to help further their skills and build their confidence in their subjects.

Outside of their busy schedule of activities, our STEM SMART students also experienced life at College, chatting with our student ambassadors, dining in the Dining Hall and exploring the city centre. They also got to experience a Formal Hall at Churchill College!

Eclipse glasses at the ready! 🌒

Yesterday over at Wychfield, some of our students and Fellows grabbed their eclipse glasses (and a colander for safely projecting the eclipse!) and headed over to the Sports Pitch to enjoy the celestial event.

Zena Aderogba started the History and Spanish course four years ago with no previous Spanish experience. Fast forward to last month's graduation, Zena was awarded Special Excellence in Spanish speaking.👏

"Having only begun learning Spanish at university, this recognition means a great deal to me and reflects how much I've gained confidence over the course of my degree.

"A particular highlight of my degree was spending my year abroad in Spain as a Language Assistant. It was an unforgettable opportunity to develop my language skills through complete immersion, gain confidence in the classroom and experience a new culture."

Zena will be taking these skills and travelling Spain and Latin America this summer.
