Melissa Yuan, Jesus College, #88

New to the team but no less formidable for it,
Melissa is a field hockey convert, having played
since primary school, so you know she’s no
stranger to playing defence. One of the many
medics on the team, we can always count on her
to be there, whether it’s to poke-check the oncoming forwards, prevent goals, or going all out and
giving every shift her all. Not only is she a valued
ice hockey player, she’s also killing it doing just
about everything else. How she finds time to fit
ice hockey into her busy schedule of playing field
hockey and violin for the orchestra, tutoring, and
managing 2nd year medicine, we’ll never know.
Don’t let her friendly smile fool you, she is a force
to be reckoned with so look out Oxford!

Maggie Zhang, Pembroke College, #75

Maggie is a new member of the team having only
started hockey four months ago. Not one to be
underestimated her years of figure skating back in
Sweden and her impressive moves on the ice make
her a valued defence player. In her non-hockey life Maggie is a third-year medical student at Pembroke college and committee member for ABACUS. With so much on her plate Maggie is constantly running around Cambridge, perhaps it
is this constant cardio that keeps her fast on the
ice? Always last to arrive at practice but first to get
the puck out of the zone good luck scoring with Maggie on the ice, Oxford!

Ella Ykema, Trinity Hall, #71

Ella is from the Netherlands and decided to join
the ice hockey team as it was a combination of
the two Dutch national sports: Figure skating
and field hockey. Since learning to skate on speed
skates at the age of 5, she has now swapped her
speed skates for hockey skates. Despite only
learning how to play in October, Ella has a natural
flair for ice hockey which is down to her talent,
commitment and hard work. As one of the most
versatile players on the ice, Ella has played every
position in games and is not afraid to get stuck
into the game. She is a key member of the team in
terms of lifting spirits and lifting sticks! Not only
extremely talented on the ice, Ella manages to
balance training and games with a hectic vetmed
degree! Oxford better watch out, you don’t want
to mess with Ella!

Provence Barnouin, St Edmund's College, #67

‘It’s dangerous, it’s stupid and if someone shoots,
you should just move out of the way and get the
heck out of there’ – Pro’s mom can’t watch her play, but she is fearless. Pro is easily the most positive player on the team, she loves goaltending so much (and we love her for it) – she never stops smiling. Don’t be mistaken by her mad love for hockey, her Canadian boyfriend, the team, and her
Canadian lab group – Pro is French, but an honorary Canadian in our eyes. She is also a genius, studying for the coolest PhD - rocket science and building jet engines! We’re really excited for you to see Pro’s incredible saves; Pro really is a pro!

Sophia Kennedy, Girton College, #64

Sophia may hail from the likes of Oxfordshire but this
young recruit bleeds light blue. Originally a figure skater for 8 years before she traded in her double axles for hockey stops. She became all-committed to the craft: joining the Oxford Junior Stars to develop her skills and even playing for Team England U16s and Oxford Midnight Stars. Fresh from these stints, she blew us away at try-outs and continues to impress. She is a fearless defender, who has mastered the art of skating, subtleties of defensive positioning and even delivers textbook clappers if need be. It would be remiss not to mention that through the team SophiA met her doppelganger SophiE and they have been two-peas-in-a-pod ever since. Her hockey friendships don’t stop there, this girl knows everyone. Miss Congeniality can be spotted giving out post-match hugs to her friends on every opposing team. Be warned Oxford, you won’t be able to resist becoming friends with her even after she beats you.
