Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈🎉

At Kent, we kicked off the month with an LGBT+ at Kent Afternoon today which featured flash talks on recent research centred around LGBT+ matters and a panel discussion reflecting on lived experiences within the LGBT+ community.

Next we will be heading to Pride Canterbury on Saturday! As a proud sponsor, we're excited to be right at the heart of the celebrations again, joining students, staff, and the wider Kent community for what is always a vibrant day of solidarity, visibility, and celebration.

Bioblitz is back for 2026 tomorrow (Sat 30 May)! 🐛🦋

Race against the clock to record as many species of wildlife as you can across campus.

We have some amazing guests on the day including experts from Kent Wildlife Trust, Butterfly Conservation and the Kent Moth Group, as well as our own students and scientists from across the University.

There is lots to get involved with including pond dipping, nature trails and species surveys. 🐝

So, whether you're really into wildlife or just want something fun to do this Saturday, there is something for everyone!

Families and educational groups are welcome 🌻

We’re excited to be hosting the UK University Search Fair at our Canterbury campus next week and can’t wait to chat about all things life at Kent with our visitors! 🎉

The Spring Kent Fair on 3 June is the perfect opportunity for students to explore their next steps after sixth form, whether that’s university or an apprenticeship, all in one place.

As hosts, we will be welcoming almost 4,000 young people to campus alongside a wide range of universities and institutions, plus apprenticeship providers and local colleges.

Throughout the day, attendees can take part in expert-led seminars covering UCAS applications and personal statements, choosing the right university course, higher and degree apprenticeships, student finance and more.

It is a brilliant chance for Year 12 students beginning to think about their post 18 options, as well as Year 13 students looking for final guidance and inspiration.

It's free to attend and registration is still open at https://bit.ly/4fJxLmD

Huge congratulations to final-year Finance and Investment student, Anbakan Varatharasan, who's start-up selling delicious Latin American desserts took first place at our ASPIRE pitching finals recently! 🍰

Since launching his business, Anbakan has seen strong traction from both individual customers and growing interest from local retailers. He took the sweet spot in the competition and won £5,000 to help accelerate his venture.

We’d also like to congratulate runners-up Orion Richards, who created a high-quality and customisable branded merchandise business called First Choice Apparel, and Matt Liston, with Alongside Fit, an innovative AI-powered personal training app.

A huge thank you as well to all the students who took part and reached the finals. It was brilliant to see so much entrepreneurial talent, creativity and ambition on display across the competition.

We recently jumped into a lab session with our 2nd year forensic science students to see how they are using analytical techniques like thin layer chromatography (TLC) and FTIR spectroscopy to help solve crimes! 🔬
