Wow - what an amazing night of celebration we had yesterday where we had a proper send-off for our lovely third-year students and marked the end of the academic year.

The staff-student social, also known as the wrap party, was filled with fun games, including a CCCU Psychology custom Jackbox Party game, with some answers best not shared on our social media 🤣 (although scroll until the end for one of the drawings). We also had an award ceremony, and, amazingly, a song made and written by Senior Lecturer Dennis Nigbur, which touched everyone and even brought a few tears. We even had a champagne dress-up! 🍾

Thank you to everyone who came along and made it so special. Moments like this, and the people who make them, are what make Psychology at CCCU so special. 🫶

We will definitely miss our third-year cohort, but we are very much looking forward to celebrating with you at graduation.

CCC you!

You. Did. It. You clicked submit and we got a little excited. Huge well done to our absolutely brilliant third year students who submitted their dissertations today! You’ve done a hard thing and we are super proud of you. 💙🎓

We can’t wait to celebrate with you soon!

Jackbox’s Quiplash, but make it Psychology/student friendly. We’re trialling a couple of prompts ahead of Tuesday’s Psychology Wrap Party — and we are SUPER excited for this one.

🏰 A day at Dover Castle always reminds us how much psychology can be found in the places we build and preserve.

This year, Dennis Nigbur (Senior Lecturer in Social Psychology) led another field trip to explore Dover Castle as part of his BSc Year 2 module *Psychology of Nations.* The castle is well placed for exploring important questions in social psychology, particularly how cultural and national identities are expressed through buildings and artefacts, and how these have developed over time.

Huge thanks to Module Lead Dennis for organising again, and to the two additional staff members who came along this year and helped make the day such a smooth one. 👏

🎧 ☕ BPS accreditation: what it is, why it matters, and how it can keep your future options open.

In Episode 10 of Mind over Mocha, we break down British Psychological Society (BPS) accreditation in plain language, plus hear from conversion-course graduates who started without it, and how gaining it helped them get where they wanted to go.

Featuring:

- Dr Emma Barrowcliffe, Course Director of the BSc (Hons) Psychology (Clinical & Forensic Studies)
- Mike Hornsey & Becky Davies, MSc Psychology conversion graduates

If you’re thinking about psychology or you’re not sure yet what you might want to do after uni, this one is for you.

When Ronja from visits our second year BSc psychology students during the Graduate Attributes for Work module. 😍 Just a little bit distracting….

📔 We asked some of our BSc Psychology third-year students what they’re researching as part of their final year dissertation projects.

We love seeing such a huge diversity of topics and methodologies, and that students have been able to follow their passions! 🙌

A huge thank you to Arron Boakes and Lucian Gherghel for filming this during the final year poster conference! 🙏

Our Head of Psychology and Principal Lecturer, Dr Anke Franz, was invited to speak at Diversity House, a charity focused on women’s and girls’ innovation and empowerment, as part of their International Women’s Day event earlier this month.

Drawing on her research on critical psychology, gender, sexuality and broader equality issues, as well as her own leadership experiences, Anke spoke about confidence, leadership and finding your voice.

We’re very proud to see Anke contributing to these important conversations and sharing work that supports women in leadership! 🙌
