Cardiff Met alumnus Jongjin Park has won this year’s LOEWE Foundation Craft Prize. 👏
Since graduating from our Master’s Ceramics course, Jongjin has continued to push the boundaries of contemporary ceramic practice through his innovative sculptural work. To be recognised by such a globally respected award is an incredible achievement, placing his work among some of the most exciting contemporary craft practices in the world.
The LOEWE Foundation Craft Prize is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious awards in contemporary craft. The international prize celebrates exceptional craftsmanship, artistic innovation and technical excellence, attracting leading makers from across the globe.
Senior Lecturer Claire Curneen, who taught Jongjin during his time at Cardiff Met, said:
“We are incredibly proud to see Jongjing, a graduate of our Ceramics Master’s course, gaining international recognition through the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize.
“During his time at Cardiff Met, Jongjing demonstrated an exceptional attitude to his studio practice and theoretical research, creating technically outstanding ceramic sculpture.
“He challenged the boundaries of contemporary ceramics and expanded the dialogue between art and craft, particularly through his unique and innovative approach in the manufacture of his sculptures.
“This award win reflects the skills, creativity and ambition we champion in our students. We look forward to following his continued success in the industry.”
