June is - a time to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and the work they have done and continue to do to strive towards equality and liberty for all.

UCSU is an open and welcoming space for all of our members, staff, stakeholders, and visitors and commits to the continued inclusion of all.

There are a lot of 🌈 events happening around the campus bases this summer if you are looking to get involved:

Zine making!
Just one of the fab activities that lots of local groups will bring to Carlisle's Unity Festival on 6th June from 12:00 - 4:00 at Tullie

The Zine Workshop will be hosted by Aidan from University of Cumbria's Student Union Cumbria Students Union

Aidan, the Wellbeing Officer at UCSU says: "making zines will happen in a creative environment!
Everyone is invited to come to produce zines, collages, and pieces of work that can exemplify or explore many themes.

You can tell us visually about yourself, your presence within the community of Carlisle, or your thoughts and feelings about events happening from Carlisle to the other side of the planet.

Using art as both expression and fun is a constant!
We want to welcome everyone to come and express yourselves, explore creativity, and simply have a fun time with some cool art materials!"

Thank you Aidan, this sounds great and we're looking forward to making & sharing all our zines - it's a wonderful social activity.

Donation bins for are now available!

Permanent bins are outside the accommodation blocks in Lancaster and at Fusehill St.

Other bins are available in the Sign Centre (Brampton) and in the basement at Helvenllyn (Ambleside)

Following a successful by-election, Angelica Uguri and Oluwafemi Ehindero have been elected as Online and Mature Students Officer, respectively.

They will take up their roles alongside the previously elected part-time officers in September 2026.

Reminder that the UCSU Red Spots Campaign is here for you ❤

Launched to help end on all @ campuses, we provide period products such as different types of pads and tampons at all campuses and condoms at most campuses.

Supplies can be collected from:

Campus Receptions
Lancaster Library
Fusehill St Step Desk
Multiple toilets across all campuses
