Here at the Atrium, Cardiff on the Interior Design course we focus on the remodelling of existing buildings for new use, conservation and up-cycling. Throughout your studies, you will benefit from a balance between creativity and practicality, gaining a strong theoretical base for your creative concepts, while learning how to develop drawing skills and to use digital processes to present projects. We focus on spatial concepts, through modelling, sketching and equip you with CAD proficiency to express your designs. Trwy gydol y cwrs fe gewch y budd o gyfuno sgiliau creadigol ac ymarferol, a meithrin sylfaen gadarn ar gyfer cysyniadau damcaniaethol tra’n datglygu sgiliau darlunio a llaw ac i ddefnyddio prosesau digidol i gyflwyno prosiectau. Industry-related projects lead to placement opportunities that give you the chance to work with professional designers and learn about project management with real-life clients and budgets. National design competitions and exposure to live projects greatly enhance your overall employability. Trwy gydol y cwrs, mae’r profiad i’r myfyrwyr yn annog gweithio gyda gweithwyr proffesiynnol or diwydiant. Our graduates are employed in architectural and interior design companies, theatre and exhibition design companies, Retail design and display, Interior branding and project management. It's been a busy first month for us! Mae'r mis cyntaf wedi bod yn brysur iawn!

First year students visited Chapter and the Printhaus in the first week as a part of the induction activities and have also been working on their hand drawings and CAD skills. We also did an all-years tower challenge as a way of everyone getting to know each other!
Buodd y flwyddyn gyntaf i Chapter ar Printhaus yn yr wythnos gyntaf fel rhan or gweithgareddau ymgartrefu ac maen't wedi bod yn gweithio ar eu sgiliau darlunio a CAD. Fe wnaethon ni hefyd her gweithgaredd adeiladu twr ar gyfer pob blwyddyn er mwyn i bawb ddod i nabod eu gilydd!

Second year students attended a project launch with Nathan Hurley from Orangebox and have since been working on ideas for educational design and joinery techniques. They also visited the Grand Pavilion with Ross Hartland the conservation architects who's working on the project and guiding them on heritage assessments.
Mynychodd myfyrwyr yr ail flwyddyn lansiad prosiect gyda Nathan Hurley o Orangebox ac ers hynny maent wedi bod yn gweithio ar syniadau ar gyfer dylunio addysgol a technegau gwaith pren. Buont hefyd yn ymweld â Phafiliwn y Grand gyda Ross Hartland y pensaer cadwraeth sy'n gweithio ar y prosiect ac sydd hefyd syn eu harwain ar asesu treftadaeth.

The third year students are busy working on proposals for their final project whilst also engaging with a competition brief set by Modulous where they are being guided by Adam Couch on transformable design and construction drawings.
Mae myfyrwyr y drydedd flwyddyn yn brysur yn datblygu syniadau ar gyfer eu prosiect terfynnol tra hefyd yn gweithio ar briff cystadleuaeth a osodwyd gan Modulous lle maent yn cael eu harwain gan Adam Couch ar ddyluniadau trawsnewidiol ac darluniau technegol.

All years attended the event ClerkenWales where they met industry professionals, suppliers who gave them insights into a range of products whilst also attending a series of talks and workshops.

Mynychodd pob blwyddyn y digwyddiad ClerkenWales lle buont yn cwrdd â gweithwyr proffesiynol y diwydiant, cyflenwyr a roddodd wybodaeth iddynt am amrywiaeth o gynhyrchion tra yn mynychu cyfres o sgyrsiau a gweithdai.

Another year completed and it was great to be able to showcase the final year project work at a recent industry event at the Atrium. Very proud!
Blwyddyn arall wedi dod i ben ac roedd hi yn fendigedig gweld gwaith y flwyddyn olaf mewn arddangosfa a oedd yn rhan o ddigwyddiad diwydiant diweddar yn yr Atriwm. Balch iawn!

We’ve been busy! Ni wedi bod yn brysur!

Great to get out and about, engage with industry and present as much as possible so far this year. Bendigedig cael mynd allan, ymgysylltu â diwydiant a chyflwyno cymaint â phosibl hyd yn hyn eleni.

So much has happened with a number of live project briefings, site visits, external workshops, specialist mentoring input, industry presentations and much more!

Mae cymaint wedi digwydd gyda nifer o sesiynau briffio prosiectau byw, ymweliadau i adeiladau a cwmnïau, gweithdai allanol, mewnbwn mentora arbenigol, cyflwyniadau diwydiant a llawer mwy!

Another year has flown by, and we’ve been busy! Great to see plenty of activity throughout the year including printing workshops, handmade and digital modelmaking, live client briefs for branding and design, visiting and working on a heritage building project, design company tour and student presentations, industry led workshops on modular sustainable design and external competition briefs to name but a few things!
We will also be showcasing the work of our final year students with an exhibition opening on the 17th of June, more information to follow!
