I feel this is now personal! I have no idea where the damn nest is because I’ve altered my running routes repeatedly in a radius of a kilometre to avoid the dive bombing and he keeps finding me! On the plus side my pace is excellent these days…to be clear the stick is to make me appear taller!

Anyone else struggle to ‘fit back in’ after a big trip away? I’ve come to call this process ‘The Dulling’ …..

"They call it ‘holiday blues’. Or jet lag. As if it’s just your body clock being a bit off.

But it’s not that.

It’s deeper. It’s heavier. It seeps into everything, your mood, your motivation, your tolerance for bullsh*t… and, in my case, it has disrupted my ability to slot back in, entirely.

New Website and tree climbing training course dates coming soon!

2025 has been a big year for Sylvana Alta!

- on the 8th of May Sylvana Alta was certified as an official tree climbing school in Germany with SVLFG specialising in training researchers and scientists in how to access and carry out data collection in the forest canopy.

- there were 5 Treeclimbing for Science & Research (TSR) Level 1 courses, multiple refresher trainings with 6 different teams of researchers studying science all over the world.

- A month long expedition to Ghana (with my favs ) for a second year to train 12 new scientists and conservationists from all over Africa and build on the training from last year’s group of climbers.

- New climbing logbooks landed! Collect climbing hours and progress through the training levels!

- 2025 is ending in a 10 week trip to Ecuador to build on training and skills with the ’tiyo group of climbers in the Siekoya Remolino community….

- New website and course dates coming 2026….!!! Thank you

Thank you to all who took part in training courses, supported projects and who shared the laughs and lows along the way.
